4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your Herdio speakers:

  1. Choose a Location: Select a suitable location for your speakers, considering sound dispersion and proximity to your audio source. The speakers are designed for wall mounting.
  2. Mounting the Brackets:
    • Attach the provided swivel brackets to your desired mounting surface (wall, ceiling, etc.) using appropriate hardware (not included, depending on surface type).
    • Ensure the brackets are securely fastened to support the weight of the speakers.
  3. Attaching the Speakers:
    • Slide the speakers onto the mounted brackets.
    • Adjust the angle of the speakers using the swivel mechanism for optimal sound projection. The brackets allow for 120-degree rotation, and the speaker face can rotate 90 degrees.
  4. Wiring the Speakers:
    • Connect the included speaker wires to the speaker terminals on the back of each speaker. Ensure correct polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative).
    • Run the speaker wires to your amplifier or receiver. These are passive speakers and require an external amplifier.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed and wired, operating your Herdio speakers is straightforward:

  1. Connect to Audio Source: Ensure your amplifier or receiver is connected to your desired audio source (e.g., desktop, laptop, MP3 player, smartphone, tablet, television).
  2. Power On: Turn on your amplifier/receiver.
  3. Adjust Volume: Start with a low volume level on your amplifier/receiver and gradually increase it to your preferred listening level.
  4. Sound Optimization: Adjust the speaker angles using the swivel brackets to direct sound where desired for the best listening experience.

These speakers are passive and do not have their own power or volume controls. All audio adjustments are made via your connected amplifier or audio source.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Herdio outdoor speakers, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the speaker enclosures with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish and waterproof coating.
  • Weather Protection: While the speakers are waterproof (IP44 marine grade) and designed for all-weather durability, prolonged exposure to extreme conditions (e.g., direct heavy rain, snow, or intense sunlight) can still affect their lifespan. Consider covering them or bringing them indoors during severe weather events if possible.
  • Grille Inspection: Periodically check the speaker grilles for any debris or blockages that might affect sound quality. Clean gently if necessary.
  • Wiring Check: Occasionally inspect the speaker wire connections for any signs of corrosion or loose connections, especially in outdoor environments.
