  • Read the Manual: Familiarize yourself with all controls and safety features before starting the engine.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear sturdy footwear, long trousers, and eye protection. Hearing protection is also recommended.
  • Clear the Area: Before mowing, remove all objects such as stones, sticks, wires, and toys from the lawn.
  • Keep Bystanders Away: Ensure children, pets, and other people are at a safe distance (at least 15 meters) from the mowing area.
  • Fuel Handling: Refuel outdoors in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Do not smoke while refueling.
  • Slope Operation: Mow across the face of slopes, never up and down. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes. Avoid mowing excessively steep slopes.
  • Blade Safety: Never place hands or feet near rotating parts. Disconnect the spark plug wire before performing any maintenance or clearing blockages.
  • Engine Off: Always turn off the engine and wait for all moving parts to stop before leaving the operating position, clearing blockages, or making adjustments.

3. Adding Fuel and Oil:

  • Engine Oil: Before starting for the first time, fill the engine with the recommended type and amount of engine oil (refer to the engine manual for specifics). Do not overfill.
  • Fuel: Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline. Do not use E85 or other high-ethanol fuels. Ensure the fuel cap is securely tightened.
  • Always perform these steps outdoors and away from ignition sources.

Operating Instructions

1. Starting the Engine:

  • Ensure the spark plug wire is securely connected.
  • Push the primer bulb (if equipped) 3-5 times until fuel is visible.
  • Move the throttle lever to the 'START' or 'CHOKE' position.
  • Firmly pull the starter rope until the engine starts. Once started, move the throttle to the 'RUN' position.

2. Adjusting Cutting Height:

  • The MGF G51SHL features centralized height adjustment. With the engine off, locate the height adjustment lever near one of the wheels.
  • Pull the lever outwards and move it to the desired cutting height setting. Ensure all wheels are set to the same height.

3. Mowing Techniques (4-in-1 System):

  • Grass Collection: Attach the grass collection bag to the rear discharge opening. This collects clippings for disposal.
  • Side Discharge: Remove the grass bag and mulching plug (if installed). Attach the side discharge chute to direct clippings away from the mower.
  • Mulching: Remove the grass bag and side discharge chute. Insert the mulching plug into the rear discharge opening. This finely chops clippings and returns them to the lawn as fertilizer.
  • Rear Discharge: With no bag, chute, or plug, clippings are discharged from the rear.

4. Engaging Self-Propel:

  • Once the engine is running, engage the self-propel lever on the handlebar. The mower will begin to move forward.
  • Release the lever to disengage the self-propel function.

5. Stopping the Engine:

  • Release the engine brake lever (usually located on the handlebar). The engine will stop automatically.
  • For emergency stops, simply release the engine brake lever.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your MGF G51SHL lawn mower.

1. Cleaning the Mower:

  • After each use, clean the underside of the deck to prevent grass buildup.
  • The mower is equipped with a washing connector. Attach a garden hose to this connector, start the engine, and engage the blade for a few minutes to clean the deck.
  • Always disconnect the spark plug wire before cleaning or performing any maintenance.

2. Blade Maintenance:

  • Regularly inspect the multi-purpose blade for sharpness and damage. A dull blade tears grass, leading to an unhealthy lawn.
  • If the blade is dull, have it sharpened by a qualified service technician or replace it with a genuine MGF replacement blade.
  • Always disconnect the spark plug wire and wear heavy-duty gloves when handling the blade.
