1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your Casio SA-51 Mini Keyboard. Please read these instructions thoroughly before operating the instrument and retain them for future reference. The Casio SA-51 is a compact electronic keyboard designed for beginners and casual players, featuring 32 mini keys, 100 tones, 50 rhythms, and 10 built-in songs.
2. Package Contents

Note: An AC power adapter (Casio AD-E95100LG) is sold separately and is not included with the standard SA-51 Single package. The keyboard can also be powered by batteries.
3. Setup
3.1 Power Supply
The Casio SA-51 can be powered using either batteries or an optional AC adapter.
Using Batteries:
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the underside of the keyboard.
- Insert six AA-size alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Using an AC Adapter (Sold Separately):
- Connect the Casio AD-E95100LG AC adapter to the DC 9.5V jack on the rear of the keyboard.
- Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet.

3.2 Connecting Headphones
To practice privately, connect a pair of headphones with a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to the PHONES/OUTPUT jack located on the side of the keyboard. The internal speakers will automatically mute when headphones are connected.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
Locate the ON/OFF switch on the top left panel of the keyboard. Slide the switch to the ON position to power on the instrument. Slide it to OFF to power off.

4.2 Adjusting Volume
Use the VOLUME slider, located next to the power switch, to adjust the overall output level of the keyboard. Slide it towards MAX for louder sound and towards MIN for softer sound.
4.3 Selecting Tones (Instrument Sounds)
The SA-51 features 100 different instrument tones. To select a tone:
- Press the TONE button. The display will show the current tone number.
- Use the number buttons (0-9) to enter a two-digit tone number (e.g., 01 for Piano, 02 for Trumpet).
- Alternatively, use the + and - buttons next to the display to cycle through tones.
The keyboard defaults to Piano tone (01) when powered on. Dedicated buttons for PIANO, TRUMPET, and DRUMS are also available for quick selection of these common tones.
4.4 Selecting Rhythms (Accompaniment Patterns)
The SA-51 includes 50 built-in rhythm patterns. To select and play a rhythm:
- Press the RHYTHM button. The display will show the current rhythm number.
- Use the number buttons (0-9) to enter a two-digit rhythm number.
- Press the START/STOP button to begin or end the rhythm playback.
4.5 Playing Built-in Songs
The keyboard has 10 demonstration songs. To play a song:
- Press the SONG button. The display will show the current song number.
- Use the number buttons (0-9) to select a song.
- Press the START/STOP button to begin or end song playback.
4.6 Function Button
The FUNCTION button allows access to additional settings:
- REVERB: Adds an echo effect to the sound.
- TUNING: Adjusts the overall pitch of the keyboard.
- METRONOME: Provides a click track for practice.
- OCTAVE: Shifts the pitch of the keyboard up or down in octaves.
Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly to cycle through these options, then use the + and - buttons to adjust the setting.
4.7 MIDI USB Connectivity
The SA-51 supports MIDI over USB, allowing it to connect to a computer (Windows, macOS, Linux) for use with music software. Connect a USB cable (Type A to Type B, not included) from the keyboard's USB port to your computer. No special drivers are typically required for basic MIDI functionality.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the keyboard with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and a mild detergent, then wipe dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes.
- Storage: Store the keyboard in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
- Battery Replacement: If using batteries, replace all six batteries at the same time. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Remove batteries if the keyboard will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
