4. Setup
4.1. Unpacking and Inspection
Carefully remove the multimeter and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage. The package should include the MM420 Digital Multimeter, test leads, 2 AAA batteries, and a K-type thermocouple.

4.2. Battery Installation
- Ensure the multimeter is turned OFF.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw securing the cover.
- Remove the cover and insert two (2) AAA batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-).

5. Operating Instructions
To begin using the MM420, rotate the main dial to the desired measurement function. The auto-ranging feature will automatically select the appropriate range for most measurements. For specific functions, use the 'SEL' button to cycle through options (e.g., AC/DC voltage, diode/continuity).
5.1. Voltage Measurement (AC/DC)
- Set the rotary dial to the 'V' position. Use the 'SEL' button to switch between AC (~) and DC (–) voltage.
- Connect the black test lead to the 'COM' jack and the red test lead to the 'VΩHzCAP' jack.
- Apply the test probes across the circuit or component to be measured.

- Connect the black test lead to the 'COM' jack. For measurements up to 10A, connect the red test lead to the '10A MAX' jack. For measurements up to 500mA, connect the red test lead to the '500mA MAX' jack.
- Open the circuit and connect the meter in series with the load.
- Read the current value on the display.
5.3. Resistance Measurement
- Set the rotary dial to the 'Ω' position.
- Connect the black test lead to the 'COM' jack and the red test lead to the 'VΩHzCAP' jack.
- Ensure the circuit is de-energized. Apply the test probes across the component.
- Read the resistance value on the display.
5.4. Continuity Test
- Set the rotary dial to the 'Ω' position and press 'SEL' until the continuity symbol (speaker icon) is displayed.
- Connect the black test lead to 'COM' and the red test lead to 'VΩHzCAP'.

- An audible tone indicates continuity (low resistance).
5.5. Temperature Measurement
