5. Setup

5.1 Placement

The N1C.L1500 UPS can be installed in either a rackmount or tower configuration.

  • Rackmount: Attach the provided rackmount ears to the sides of the UPS and secure it into a standard 19-inch equipment rack.
  • Tower: Attach the provided tower stands to the bottom of the UPS for vertical placement.

Ensure the installation location is well-ventilated, free from excessive heat or moisture, and has stable ambient temperatures.

5.2 Connecting to Power

  1. Connect the supplied input power cord to the AC Input port on the rear panel of the UPS.
  2. Plug the other end of the input power cord into a grounded 120V AC wall outlet.

5.3 Connecting Equipment

  1. Ensure all equipment to be connected to the UPS is turned off.
  2. Plug your critical equipment (computers, servers, network devices) into the NEMA 5-15R outlets on the rear panel of the UPS.
  3. Do not connect surge suppressors or power strips to the UPS outlets, as this may overload the UPS.

5.4 Initial Startup

  1. After connecting the UPS to utility power and your equipment, press and hold the power button on the front panel for a few seconds until the UPS powers on.
  2. The LCD display will illuminate, and the UPS will perform a self-test.
  3. Once the self-test is complete, the UPS will enter normal operating mode, providing conditioned power to your connected devices.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the power button until the display illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the power button until the display turns off and the UPS shuts down.

6.2 Understanding the LCD Display

The LCD display provides real-time information about the UPS status, including input/output voltage, battery charge level, load percentage, and various operational modes or warnings. Refer to Figure 4.2 for a visual reference.

  • Input/Output Voltage: Shows the current AC voltage supplied to and from the UPS.
  • Battery Level: Indicates the remaining battery charge.
  • Load Percentage: Displays the percentage of the UPS's capacity currently being used by connected equipment.
  • Operational Modes: Icons may indicate Line Mode, Battery Mode, Bypass Mode, or ECO Mode.
  • Warning/Fault Indicators: Alerts for conditions such as overload, battery fault, or other system errors.

6.3 Battery Backup Operation

During a power outage or significant voltage fluctuation, the UPS will automatically switch to battery power, providing continuous power to connected equipment. An audible alarm may sound, and the display will indicate battery mode. The duration of backup power depends on the connected load and battery charge level.

6.4 Communication Features

  • USB Port: Connect the UPS to a computer using the provided USB cable. Install compatible power management software (available from the manufacturer's website) to monitor UPS status, configure settings, and perform graceful shutdowns of connected systems during extended power outages.
  • EPO Port: Connect an external switch to the EPO port for immediate emergency shutdown of the UPS and connected equipment. This is typically used in critical safety scenarios.
  • Intelligent Slot: For advanced network monitoring and management, an optional SNMP card can be installed in this slot.
