1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the DEERC DE23 Remote Control Helicopter. This manual provides essential information for the safe operation, setup, and maintenance of your new RC helicopter. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the helicopter to ensure proper function and to maximize your flying experience.

2. Safety Precautions

To prevent injury or damage, always observe the following safety guidelines:

  • Indoor Use Recommended: This helicopter is designed primarily for indoor use. Avoid flying in windy conditions outdoors, as even light breezes can affect control.
  • Clear Flight Area: Ensure the flight area is clear of obstacles, people, and pets. Maintain a safe distance from walls, ceilings, and other objects to prevent collisions and potential damage from air turbulence (ground effect).
  • Adult Supervision: Adult supervision is recommended for younger users.
  • Battery Safety: Use only the provided batteries and charging cable. Do not overcharge or short-circuit batteries. Discontinue use if batteries show signs of damage or swelling.
  • Propeller Safety: Keep fingers, hair, and loose clothing away from rotating propellers. Do not attempt to catch the helicopter while it is flying.
  • Water and Moisture: Keep the helicopter and remote control away from water and moisture to prevent electronic damage.
  • Age Recommendation: This product is recommended for users aged 14 years and up.

4.2 Remote Controller

The 2.4GHz remote controller features:

  • Left Joystick (Throttle/Yaw): Controls altitude (up/down) and rotation (left/right).
  • Right Joystick (Forward/Backward/Sideward): Controls forward, backward, and potentially slight sideward movement (depending on model specifics).
  • One-Key Take-off/Landing Button: Initiates automatic take-off or landing.
  • Speed Mode Button: Cycles through 3 available speed modes.
  • Power Switch: Turns the remote controller on/off.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Charging

  1. Connect the modular battery to the USB charging cable.
  2. Plug the USB cable into a USB power source (e.g., computer, USB wall adapter).
  3. The charging indicator on the USB cable will show the charging status (refer to the cable's specific indicator behavior for full charge).
  4. Charging typically takes approximately 60-90 minutes per battery.
  5. Once fully charged, disconnect the battery from the charging cable.

The DE23 includes two modular batteries, providing approximately 12+ minutes of flight time per battery, for a total of 24+ minutes of play.

5.2 Battery Installation

  1. Helicopter Battery: Carefully insert a charged modular battery into the helicopter's battery compartment. Ensure it clicks securely into place.
  2. Remote Controller Batteries: Open the battery cover on the back of the remote controller. Insert 3 x AAA batteries (not included) according to the polarity markings. Close the battery cover.

5.3 Pairing the Helicopter and Remote

  1. Place the helicopter on a flat, level surface.
  2. Turn on the helicopter's power switch. The LED lights on the helicopter will flash.
  3. Turn on the remote controller's power switch.
  4. Push the left joystick (throttle) all the way up, then all the way down. The helicopter's LED lights will stop flashing and remain solid, indicating successful pairing.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Flight Controls

  • Take-off: After pairing, press the One-Key Take-off/Landing button, or slowly push the left joystick (throttle) upwards to lift off.
  • Altitude Control: Use the left joystick (throttle) to increase (up) or decrease (down) altitude.
  • Directional Control: Use the right joystick to move the helicopter forward, backward, left, or right.
  • Rotation (Yaw): Push the left joystick left or right to rotate the helicopter clockwise or counter-clockwise.
  • Landing: Press the One-Key Take-off/Landing button again, or slowly pull the left joystick (throttle) downwards until the helicopter lands.

6.2 Altitude Hold Function

The DE23 features an advanced air pressure technology that allows it to automatically hover at a certain altitude after take-off. This simplifies control, making it easier for beginners to manage the helicopter's height.

6.3 Speed Modes

Press the Speed Mode button on the remote controller to cycle through three different speed settings (low, medium, high). Start with the lowest speed for beginners and indoor flying, gradually increasing as you gain experience.

6.4 LED Lights

The helicopter is equipped with 7-color LED lights that enhance visibility and provide an engaging visual experience, especially in low-light conditions. The lights activate automatically when the helicopter is powered on.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the helicopter and remote control. Do not use water or chemical cleaners.
  • Propeller Replacement: If a propeller is damaged, use the provided screwdriver to carefully remove the damaged blade and replace it with a spare. Ensure the new propeller is securely fastened.
  • Battery Storage: For long-term storage, charge the batteries to approximately 50% and store them in a cool, dry place. Do not store fully charged or fully depleted batteries for extended periods.
  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check all parts for wear and tear, especially after crashes. Ensure all screws are tight and components are securely attached.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Helicopter does not respond to remote. Not paired; low battery in helicopter or remote.Ensure helicopter and remote are powered on and paired correctly. Charge helicopter battery. Replace remote batteries.
Helicopter flies erratically or is unstable.Damaged propellers; gyroscope calibration issue; strong air currents.Check and replace damaged propellers. Ensure helicopter is placed on a flat surface during power-on for proper gyroscope calibration. Avoid flying in drafts or wind.
Short flight time.Battery not fully charged; aging battery.Ensure battery is fully charged before use. Consider replacing old batteries if performance significantly degrades.
Helicopter loses control near walls/ceilings.Ground effect/air turbulence.Maintain a safe distance from surfaces. This is a normal aerodynamic phenomenon.
