4. Setup

4.1 Assembly

The FARMMAC F660V chainsaw requires some assembly before first use. Refer to the included instruction manual for detailed steps on attaching the guide bar, chain, and handle. Ensure all fasteners are securely tightened.

4.2 Fuel and Oil Mixing

The F660V uses a 2-cycle gasoline engine and requires a specific fuel-to-oil mixture. Use a high-quality 2-cycle engine oil (FB or FD grade) and fresh gasoline.

  • For the first 5-6 tanks (break-in period), a 35:1 fuel-to-oil ratio is recommended for larger displacement machines.
  • After the break-in period, use a 50:1 fuel-to-oil ratio. Modern oils are effective at preventing wear.
  • Always use a separate bar and chain oil for lubrication of the guide bar and chain. Do not use engine fuel mix for this purpose.

4.3 Guide Bar and Chain Fitment

The F660V is compatible with 24/25/28/30/36/42 inch guide bars. Ensure your guide bar has a Tail Mount dimension of 12.1mm (D025), 3/8" pitch, and 0.063" gauge for proper fitment and low kickback operation.

5. Operation

5.1 Starting the Chainsaw

To start the F660V, ensure the chain brake is engaged. Pull the starter cord firmly. Cold starts may require multiple pulls due to the absence of a primer button. Once warm, the chainsaw should start within 1-2 pulls.

5.2 Cutting Techniques

Always maintain a stable stance and firm grip. Allow the chainsaw to reach full speed before engaging the wood. Use the spiked bumper for leverage and control during cuts. Avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar to prevent kickback.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw.

6.1 Carburetor Adjustment

The F660V features a Walbro carburetor. Minor adjustments can significantly impact performance. If the engine runs too rich (excess fuel) or too lean (insufficient fuel), adjust the carburetor settings. Consult a professional if unsure.

6.3 Chain Sharpening and Lubrication

A sharp chain is essential for efficient and safe cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull. Ensure the automatic oiler is functioning correctly to lubricate the chain and guide bar during operation.

6.4 Clutch Drum Bearing

Periodically check and lubricate the clutch drum bearing to ensure smooth operation and prevent premature wear.
