3. Setup

Proper setup is crucial for accurate measurements.

  1. Placement: Place the balance on a stable, vibration-free surface, away from direct sunlight, air currents, and significant temperature changes.
  2. Horizontal Adjustment: Use the adjustable leveling feet at the base of the scale to center the bubble in the built-in level indicator. This ensures the weighing pan is perfectly horizontal.
  3. Assembly: Carefully place the stainless steel weighing pan onto the center of the weighing platform. Ensure the glass draft shield is properly assembled around the weighing area.
  4. Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the balance and plug it into an AC 100V-240V power outlet. Alternatively, the scale can be powered by 4x1.5V batteries (not included) for portable use.
  5. Warm-up Time: After powering on, allow the balance to warm up for at least 30 minutes before making critical measurements. This stabilizes the internal components for optimal accuracy.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Weighing

  1. Press the ON/OFF button to power on the balance.
  2. Wait for the display to show 0.000g.
  3. Place the item to be weighed on the center of the stainless steel pan.
  4. Read the stable weight displayed on the LCD screen.

4.2 Tare Function

To subtract the weight of a container:

  1. Place the empty container on the weighing pan.
  2. Press the TARE/CAL button. The display will reset to 0.000g.
  3. Add the substance to be weighed into the container. The display will show the net weight of the substance.

4.3 Unit Conversion

The balance supports 19 measuring units. To change the unit:

  • Press the UNIT button repeatedly to cycle through available units (Gram, Kilogram, Carat, Tola, TAR, Dram, PKT, Grain, TMR, gsm, tlJ, mo, Penny weight, Ounce, Pound, Taiwan Tael, Troy-Ounce, Hong Kong Tael, and %).
  • You can lock up to 16 different unit packages (e.g., g, t, ct, oz, lb) and hide uncommon units for efficiency. Refer to the full manual for detailed unit locking procedures.

4.4 Piece Counting Function

To count multiple pieces of an item:

  1. Press the PCS button to enter piece counting mode.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to set a sample quantity (e.g., 10, 20, 50, 100 pieces).
  3. Place the corresponding number of sample pieces on the pan and confirm.
  4. Remove the sample pieces. When you place an unknown quantity of the same item, the display will show the count.

4.5 Data Output (RS232 & USB)

The lab scale is equipped with RS232 and USB ports for connecting to a computer or printer. It supports three printing modes: continuous print, key print, and command print.

For detailed instructions on configuring continuous output or key output settings, please refer to the video demonstration below.

5. Calibration

Calibration ensures the accuracy of your balance. It is recommended to recalibrate after moving the balance or before critical use.

5.1 Manual Calibration

To perform a manual calibration:

  1. Ensure the weighing pan is empty.
  2. Press and hold the TARE/CAL button until 'CAL' appears on the display.
  3. The display will then show the required calibration weight (e.g., 500.000g).
  4. Carefully place the specified calibration weight onto the center of the weighing pan.
  5. Wait for the balance to stabilize and confirm the calibration. The display will return to 0.000g once complete.
  6. Remove the calibration weight.

5.2 Standard and Linear Calibration

For detailed steps on performing standard and linear calibration, please refer to the video demonstration in Section 4.5.
