1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Byron DBW-24031 Wired Doorbell Kit. 2. Package Contents

Please verify that all the following items are included in your package:

  • 1x Byron Chime Unit (White, rectangular)
  • 1x Byron Doorbell Push Button (White, rectangular with round button)
  • 1x 5-meter Wired Cable
  • Cable Ties
  • User Manual

Note: 2x D (LR20) batteries, mounting screws, and wall plugs are NOT included and must be purchased separately.

3. Setup & Installation

The Byron DBW-24031 is a wired doorbell system requiring a 2-wire connection between the chime unit and the push button. Follow these steps for installation:

3.1 Prepare for Installation

  1. Safety First: Ensure the power supply to the installation area is turned off if connecting to an existing wired system or transformer.
  2. Tools Required: You will need a screwdriver, drill, pencil, and potentially wall plugs and screws (not included).
  3. Batteries: Insert two D (LR20) batteries into the chime unit. Open the chime unit cover, locate the battery compartment, and insert the batteries according to the polarity markings.

3.2 Mount the Chime Unit

  1. Choose a suitable indoor location for the chime unit, preferably centrally located to be heard throughout your home.
  2. Mark the desired mounting points on the wall using the chime unit as a template.
  3. Drill pilot holes if necessary and secure the chime unit to the wall using appropriate screws (not included).

3.3 Mount the Push Button

  1. Select an outdoor location for the push button, typically next to your front door, at an accessible height.
  2. Mark the mounting points and secure the push button to the wall using screws (not included).

3.4 Wire the System

  1. Run the provided 5-meter cable from the chime unit to the push button. Use the cable ties to secure the cable neatly along the path.
  2. Connect one end of the 2-wire cable to the terminals on the back of the chime unit. Ensure a secure connection.
  3. Connect the other end of the 2-wire cable to the terminals on the back of the push button. Ensure a secure connection.
  4. Once wiring is complete, replace any covers on the chime unit and push button.

4. Operating Instructions

Operating your Byron DBW-24031 doorbell is straightforward:

  • Once installed and powered with batteries, the system is ready for use.
  • To activate the chime, simply press the push button located outside your door.
  • The chime unit will produce a classic 90 dB melody for as long as the button is pressed.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your doorbell kit, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Battery Replacement: The chime unit is powered by two D (LR20) batteries. If the chime sound becomes weak or stops working, replace both batteries with new ones. Always ensure correct polarity.
  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the chime unit and push button with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish.
  • Wiring Check: Periodically inspect the wiring connections at both the chime unit and the push button to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion.
