Introduction
Welcome to your ESI Xjam Professional MIDI Pad Controller. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting your device. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure proper use and to maximize your experience with the Xjam.
Setup
Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Verify that all items listed below are present and undamaged:
- Xjam MIDI Pad Controller
- USB Cable
- User Manual (this document)
- Software Download Vouchers (Bitwig Studio 8-Track, WaveLab LE 10, Cubasis LE 3)
Connecting the Xjam
The Xjam connects to your computer or mobile device via a USB-C cable. No external power adapter is required as it is USB-powered.

USB-C Connection
Connect one end of the provided USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the Xjam and the other end to an available USB-C port on your computer (Mac/PC) or compatible mobile device (iPad/iPhone/Android).
MIDI Out Connection
For connecting to external MIDI hardware, use a standard 3.5mm TRS MIDI cable (not included) from the Xjam's MIDI Out port to your external device's MIDI In port.
Foot Switch Input
The Xjam features a foot switch input for sustain pedals, enhancing performance capabilities. Connect a standard sustain pedal (not included) to this input.

Software Installation (Optional but Recommended)
While the Xjam is plug-and-play and does not require drivers for basic functionality, installing the dedicated editor software from the ESI website is recommended for advanced customization.
The product includes complimentary access to Bitwig Studio 8-Track, WaveLab LE, and Cubasis LE. Follow the instructions provided with your product for software download and activation.
