4. Product Features

The DALY Smart BMS offers a range of features to ensure optimal battery performance and safety:

  • Comprehensive Protection: Includes overcurrent, overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit, and temperature protection.
  • Durable Construction: Features double protection with injection patent technology and a patent shell, making it waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and anti-static.
  • High Accuracy: Utilizes high-quality components for precise data acquisition.
  • Smart Monitoring: Allows users to check battery status and modify parameters via a Bluetooth app or PC software.
  • Easy Installation: Designed for straightforward setup.

5. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is critical for the safe and correct operation of the BMS. Please follow these steps carefully:

5.1 Tools Required

  • Soldering machine (suggested temperature: 662 °F / 350 °C)
  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape
  • Tin wire
  • Multimeter

5.2 Wiring Instructions

  1. Disconnect Balance Wires: Before welding the black and red balance wires onto the battery pack, ensure the white end of the balance wires and the BMS connection port are disconnected.
  2. BMS Placement: Keep the red cooling surface side of the BMS uncovered to ensure proper heat dissipation. Use DALY matching balance wires (regular length 450 mm / 17.72 inches).
  3. Connect Balance Wires: After confirming that the balance wires are correctly welded to the battery cells, connect them to the BMS balance port.
  4. Connect Accessories: Install any additional accessories such as the UART module, Bluetooth module, RS485, or CAN module to the BMS.

5.3 BMS Activation

The BMS can be activated using one of two methods:

  1. Press the activation button located on the battery board.
  2. Connect a charger to the battery pack to activate the BMS for its first use.

The BMS comes with default factory settings for serial number and protection parameters (Li-ion, LiFePO4). However, the capacity (AH) of your specific battery pack must be set correctly. Incorrect capacity settings will lead to inaccurate remaining power percentage readings. Other parameters can be adjusted as needed.

The initial password for the smart board APP to change parameters is: 123456.

6. Operating Instructions

The DALY Smart BMS allows for convenient monitoring and parameter adjustment through its communication interfaces.

6.1 Bluetooth App Monitoring

Connect the Bluetooth module to the BMS. Download the DALY BMS app on your smartphone. Once connected, you can monitor real-time battery status, including voltage, current, temperature, and cell balance. You can also modify various protection parameters as required. The initial password for parameter changes is 123456.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your DALY Smart BMS, consider the following maintenance guidelines:

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and signs of corrosion or damage.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the BMS unit clean and free from dust and debris. Ensure the cooling surface is not obstructed.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the BMS within its specified temperature and humidity ranges.
  • Software Updates: Check for and apply any available firmware or software updates for the BMS app or PC software to ensure you have the latest features and bug fixes.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your DALY Smart BMS, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • BMS Not Activating: Ensure the activation button has been pressed or the battery pack has received a charge. Check all main power connections (B- and P-).
  • No Communication (Bluetooth/UART): Verify that the communication module (Bluetooth or UART) is correctly connected to the BMS. Ensure the app or PC software is installed correctly and that the device's Bluetooth is enabled and paired (for Bluetooth).
  • Incorrect Readings: Confirm that the battery capacity (AH) is set correctly in the app/software. Check all balance wire connections for proper contact with each cell.
  • Protection Triggered: If the BMS enters a protection state (e.g., overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent), identify the cause using the app/software. Address the underlying issue (e.g., reduce load, balance cells, check charger).
  • No Charge/Discharge: Check the main power connections (B- and P-). Ensure the BMS is activated and not in a protection state.
