1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Alecto ADB20 Wireless Doorbell. This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient use of your new doorbell system. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and retain them for future reference.

The Alecto ADB20 is a wireless doorbell system designed for ease of installation and reliable performance. It features an IP56 waterproof outdoor transmitter and a portable indoor receiver, offering a range of up to 200 meters in open areas and 50 meters indoors. With 52 selectable melodies and 5 adjustable volume levels, you can customize your doorbell experience. The system is also expandable, allowing connection of up to 6 additional receivers.

2. Package Contents

3. Safety Instructions

  • Do not expose the receiver to rain or moisture. The transmitter is IP56 waterproof, suitable for outdoor use, but avoid submerging it in water.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the units yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Use only the specified battery type (A23 12V) for the transmitter. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.
  • Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Avoid placing the receiver near strong electromagnetic fields, which may interfere with its operation.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Installing the Transmitter (Outdoor Unit)

  1. Insert Battery: Open the back cover of the transmitter. Insert the supplied A23 (12V) battery, ensuring the correct positive (+) and negative (-) polarity. Close the cover securely.
  2. Choose Location: Select a suitable location near your front door. Ensure the surface is clean and dry. The transmitter is IP56 waterproof, making it suitable for outdoor installation.
  3. Mounting: You have two options for mounting:
    • Adhesive Tape: Peel off one side of the double-sided adhesive tape and stick it to the back of the transmitter. Peel off the other side and firmly press the transmitter onto the desired surface for at least 30 seconds.
    • Screws: Use the provided screws and wall plugs to securely attach the transmitter to the wall. Mark the drill points, drill holes, insert wall plugs, and then screw the transmitter into place.

4.2 Setting Up the Receiver (Indoor Unit)

  1. Power On: The receiver is battery operated. Insert the required batteries (type not specified in product details, typically AA or AAA, please check the unit's battery compartment for specific type and quantity).
  2. Placement: Place the receiver in a convenient location within your home where you can easily hear the doorbell. Consider the maximum indoor range of 50 meters (up to 200 meters in open areas) when choosing a spot.
  3. Pairing (if necessary): The units are usually pre-paired from the factory. If they do not connect automatically, refer to the troubleshooting section or the full manual for pairing instructions. The ADB20 uses an encrypted signal to prevent interference.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Changing Melodies

The Alecto ADB20 offers 52 different melodies. To change the melody:

  1. Locate the melody selection button on the side of the receiver unit.
  2. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the available melodies. Each press will play the next melody.
  3. Once you hear a melody you like, stop pressing the button. The selected melody will be saved and used for future doorbell rings.

5.2 Adjusting Volume

The receiver has 5 adjustable volume levels, ranging from 0 dB (mute) to 110 dB (maximum volume). To adjust the volume:

  1. Locate the volume control button on the side of the receiver unit.
  2. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the 5 volume levels. Each press will adjust the volume up or down.
  3. Select the desired volume level.

5.3 Expanding the System

The Alecto ADB20 system is expandable. You can add up to 6 additional receivers to your existing doorbell transmitter. This is useful for larger homes or multi-story buildings to ensure the doorbell can be heard in various locations.

To add an additional receiver, follow the pairing instructions provided with the new receiver unit. Typically, this involves putting the receiver into a pairing mode and then pressing the transmitter button.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement

  • Transmitter: When the doorbell button no longer activates the receiver, or the range significantly decreases, it may be time to replace the A23 (12V) battery in the transmitter. Open the back cover, remove the old battery, insert a new one with correct polarity, and close the cover.
  • Receiver: If the receiver stops sounding or its volume becomes low, replace its batteries (refer to the battery type indicated in the receiver's battery compartment).

6.2 Cleaning

Wipe the doorbell units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the surface or internal components. The transmitter is waterproof, but avoid using high-pressure water jets directly on it.
