3. Probe Insertion

For accurate readings and to prevent damage, always insert the probe deeply enough into the meat so that the notch on the probe is fully covered by the meat. This ensures the internal temperature sensor is correctly positioned.

4. Booster Placement

Place the booster at least 1 foot (30 cm) away from the cooking appliance to avoid any potential heat damage. The booster acts as a signal relay, extending the Bluetooth range between the probe and your smart device.

Operation

1. Monitoring Temperatures via App

Once the probe is inserted and the app is connected, you can monitor both the internal meat temperature and the ambient cooking temperature in real-time. The app provides estimated cooking times, allows you to set custom alerts, and offers USDA-recommended temperature presets for various meat types.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Probe

The TempSpike probe is IP67 waterproof and dishwasher safe. However, to protect the probe for longer use, please allow it to cool down sufficiently before washing. Rapid heating and cooling may damage the device.

2. Recharging

Recharge the booster when the low-battery indicator flashes. Ensure the probe is clean before charging to maintain optimal performance and longevity.

Troubleshooting

  • Connection Issues: If the device has trouble pairing or maintaining connection, ensure the booster is within range (up to 500 ft from your device, and the probe is within 23 ft of the booster with grill lid closed). Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone.
  • Charging Problems: If the probe or booster is not charging, ensure the charging cable is securely connected and the power source is active. Clean the probe contacts before placing it in the booster for charging.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the probe is inserted correctly and deeply enough into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding bones. Verify that the ambient sensor is not directly exposed to flames or extreme heat beyond its specified range (max 572°F).
  • App Functionality: If the app is not responding or displaying correctly, try restarting the app or your smartphone. Ensure the app is updated to the latest version.
