Care and Maintenance
Cleaning the Brewer
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior with a damp, non-abrasive cloth.
- Drip Tray: The drip tray and its cover are removable for easy cleaning. They are top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Water Reservoir: The water reservoir can be removed and cleaned with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly.
- K-Cup Pod Holder: The K-Cup pod holder can be removed for cleaning. Wash with mild soap and water.
Descaling the Brewer
Over time, calcium deposits (scale) can build up in your coffee maker, affecting performance and flavor. The 'DESCALE' indicator light on the control panel will illuminate when it's time to descale your brewer. Refer to the full descaling instructions in the detailed user manual or on the Keurig website for the complete process, typically involving a descaling solution and several rinse cycles.
Troubleshooting
- Brewer Not Turning On: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet. Check if the outlet is functional.
- 'Add Water' Light On: The water reservoir needs to be refilled. Ensure it is properly seated after refilling.
- Coffee Not Brewing: Check if a K-Cup pod is properly inserted and the handle is fully lowered. Ensure the water reservoir has sufficient water.
- Coffee Not Hot Enough: Ensure the brewer has completed its heating cycle before brewing. Descaling may also improve heating performance.
- Brew Interrupted: If the brew stops prematurely, lift and lower the handle, then select the brew size again. If the issue persists, perform a cleansing brew.
