2. Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when operating a chainsaw. Failure to follow safety guidelines can result in serious injury or death.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear appropriate PPE, including a safety helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, heavy-duty gloves, chainsaw protective trousers, and safety boots.
- Read the Manual: Familiarize yourself with all controls, safety features, and operating procedures before starting the chainsaw.
- Work Area: Ensure the work area is clear of bystanders, children, and pets. Maintain a stable footing and clear escape routes.
- Fuel Handling: Mix and handle fuel in a well-ventilated area, away from ignition sources. Use the correct fuel-to-oil ratio (25:1 for this model).
- Kickback Prevention: Be aware of kickback risks. Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands, avoid cutting with the tip of the guide bar, and ensure the chain brake is functional.
- Maintenance: Regularly inspect the chainsaw for damage, loose parts, and proper chain tension. Never operate a damaged chainsaw.
3. Setup and Assembly
Before operating your MalTec MasterCut5700W chainsaw, proper assembly and preparation are crucial.
3.1 Unboxing and Component Identification
Carefully remove all components from the packaging. The package includes the chainsaw unit, two guide bars (16" and 18"), two chains, a guide bar cover, a tool kit for assembly, a fuel mixing container, and two-stroke oil.

3.2 Installing the Bumper Spike
Attach the bumper spike to the chainsaw body using the provided screws and Allen key. This spike helps stabilize the chainsaw during cutting.
3.3 Guide Bar and Chain Installation
- Remove the transmission protection cover by unscrewing the nuts.
- Place the guide bar onto the studs.
- Carefully loop the chain around the drive sprocket and guide bar. Ensure the cutting edges of the chain are facing the correct direction (refer to the arrow on the guide bar or chain for direction of movement).
- Reinstall the transmission protection cover, ensuring the chain tensioner pin engages with the hole in the guide bar. Lightly tighten the nuts, but do not fully secure them yet.

3.4 Adjusting Chain Tension
Use the provided screwdriver to adjust the chain tension. Turn the adjustment screw until the chain is snug against the guide bar but can still be pulled freely by hand. Once tension is correct, fully tighten the nuts on the transmission protection cover.
3.5 Fuel and Oil Filling
- Fuel Mixture: Prepare a mixture of unleaded gasoline (SP95) and two-stroke engine oil at a 25:1 ratio (25 parts gasoline to 1 part oil). Use the provided mixing container for accuracy.
- Fuel Tank: Fill the fuel tank with the prepared mixture.
- Chain Oil Tank: Fill the separate oil tank with appropriate chain lubricant. This model features automatic chain lubrication.
