User Manual
Introduction
This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your MOREL Maximo Ultra 602 HE MKII High Efficiency 6-1/2" 2-Way Component Speaker System. The high-efficiency design of this system is engineered to significantly enhance the audio experience in vehicles with factory amplified or low-power audio systems. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and longevity of your speakers.
Important Safety Information
- Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before beginning any electrical installation to prevent short circuits.
- Ensure all wiring is properly insulated and secured to prevent damage from vibration or contact with sharp edges.
- Do not mount speakers in locations that obstruct airbags, driver visibility, or vehicle controls.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and gloves during installation.
- Consult a professional installer if you are unsure about any part of the installation process.
- Avoid prolonged listening at high volume levels to prevent hearing damage.
Package Contents
Verify that all components are present before beginning installation:
- Two (2) 6-1/2" Woofers
- Two (2) 1" Soft Dome Neodymium Magnet Tweeters
- Two (2) Integrated Crossovers
- Mounting Hardware (screws, clips, etc.)
- Speaker Grilles (if included)
Setup and Installation
The Maximo Ultra 602 HE MKII is a component speaker system, meaning the woofer and tweeter are separate units, allowing for optimal sound staging. Installation typically involves mounting the woofers in factory speaker locations and finding suitable locations for the tweeters and crossovers.
1. Planning and Preparation
- Choose Mounting Locations: Identify suitable locations for the 6-1/2" woofers (typically door panels) and the 1" tweeters (e.g., A-pillars, dash, or door sails). Consider sound imaging and ease of installation.
- Access Wiring: Carefully remove interior panels to access existing speaker wiring and create pathways for new wiring if necessary.
- Test Fit: Before drilling or permanent mounting, test fit all components to ensure proper clearance and fit.
2. Woofer Installation
Mount the 6-1/2" woofers securely in the desired locations using the provided mounting hardware. Ensure the mounting surface is rigid to prevent vibrations.

3. Tweeter Installation
Mount the 1" soft dome tweeters in their chosen locations. These can be flush-mounted or surface-mounted depending on the included hardware and your vehicle's interior. Ensure they are aimed towards the listening position for optimal sound.

4. Crossover Connection
The Maximo Ultra 602 HE MKII features integrated crossovers. Connect the speaker wires from your amplifier or head unit to the input terminals of the crossover. Then, connect the woofer and tweeter to their respective output terminals on the crossover. Pay close attention to positive (+) and negative (-) polarity for all connections.

5. Wiring and Testing
- Connect Wiring: Route all speaker wires neatly and securely, avoiding sharp edges or moving parts. Use proper crimp connectors or solder connections.
- Reconnect Battery: Once all connections are made and secured, reconnect the vehicle's battery.
- Test System: Turn on your audio system and test the speakers at a low volume. Verify that sound is coming from all speakers and that there is no distortion or buzzing.
Operation
Once installed, the MOREL Maximo Ultra 602 HE MKII speakers operate as part of your vehicle's audio system. Their high-efficiency design means they can produce significant sound output even with lower power inputs from factory or aftermarket head units.
- Audio Source: Play audio from your preferred source (radio, CD, streaming, etc.) through your car's head unit.
- Volume Control: Adjust the volume using your head unit's controls. Avoid pushing the speakers to distortion, as this can cause damage.
- Tone Controls: Use your head unit's bass, treble, balance, and fader controls to fine-tune the sound to your preference.
- Break-in Period: Like all new speakers, the Maximo Ultra 602 HE MKII may benefit from a break-in period of several hours of normal listening. This allows the speaker components to loosen up and perform optimally.
Maintenance and Care
Proper care will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your speakers.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe down the speaker grilles and surrounds. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Protection: Ensure speakers are protected from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and moisture.
- Secure Mounting: Periodically check that all mounting screws are tight and that the speakers are securely fastened. Vibrations can loosen hardware over time.
- Wiring Inspection: Occasionally inspect wiring for any signs of wear, fraying, or loose connections.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your speakers, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound from speakers | Loose or incorrect wiring; amplifier/head unit off or faulty; blown fuse. | Check all speaker wire connections for proper polarity and tightness. Ensure amplifier/head unit is powered on and functioning. Check vehicle and amplifier fuses. |
| Distorted or buzzing sound | Over-driven signal; loose speaker mounting; damaged speaker cone/surround; incorrect crossover connection. | Reduce volume or gain settings. Ensure speakers are securely mounted. Inspect speaker cones for physical damage. Verify crossover connections are correct. |
| One speaker not working | Loose connection to that specific speaker; faulty speaker wire; damaged speaker. | Check wiring for the affected speaker from the crossover to the speaker itself. Test speaker with a known good audio source if possible. |
| Weak or muffled sound | Incorrect polarity; poor speaker placement; phase issues. | Double-check all positive and negative connections. Experiment with tweeter aiming. Ensure all speakers are wired in phase. |
