1. Important Safety Instructions

  • Do not expose the radio to rain, moisture, or extreme temperatures.

The Benss BRBD06 is a compact, portable multi-band radio designed for convenience and clear reception. It features FM, AM, and Shortwave (SW) bands, a digital display, headphone jack, alarm clock, and sleep timer functions.

  • Power Button: Turns the radio on/off.
  • Band Button: Switches between FM, AM, and SW bands.
  • V+/V- Buttons: Adjust volume up/down.
  • M+/M- Buttons: Tune frequency up/down, or navigate saved stations.
  • SCAN/SLEEP Button: Initiates automatic station scan (long press) or sets sleep timer (short press).
  • LCD Display: Shows frequency, time, band, and other indicators.
  • Telescopic Antenna: For improved FM and SW reception.
  • 3.5mm Headphone Jack: For private listening.
  • Battery Compartment: Holds 2 x AA batteries.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert two (2) AA batteries, ensuring the correct positive (+) and negative (-) polarity as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 Initial Power On

Press and hold the Power button for a few seconds to turn on the radio. The LCD display will illuminate.

4. Operation

4.1 Power On/Off

  • To turn on: Press and hold the Power button.
  • To turn off: Press and hold the Power button again.

4.2 Band Selection (FM/AM/SW)

Press the BAND button repeatedly to cycle through FM, AM, and SW (Shortwave) bands. The selected band will be displayed on the LCD screen.

4.3 Tuning Stations

  • Manual Tuning: Press the M+ or M- buttons briefly to adjust the frequency step by step.
  • Automatic Scan: Long press the SCAN button (often combined with SLEEP). The radio will automatically scan and save available stations.

For optimal FM and SW reception, extend the telescopic antenna. For AM reception, rotate the radio for the best signal.

4.4 Volume Control

Press the V+ button to increase the volume and the V- button to decrease the volume.

4.5 Headphone Use

Insert standard 3.5mm headphones into the headphone jack on the side of the radio for private listening. The internal speaker will automatically mute.

4.6 Clock Setting

To set the time, with the radio off, you typically need to enter a time setting mode. This is often done by a long press of a multi-function button (e.g., MODE, SET, or even BAND or SCAN if no dedicated button is present) until the hour digits flash.

  1. Enter time setting mode (e.g., long press a relevant button).
  2. Use M+ or M- to adjust the hour.
  3. Press the same button used to enter setting mode again to switch to minute adjustment.
  4. Use M+ or M- to adjust the minutes.
  5. Press the button one more time to confirm and exit.
  6. To switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format, a short press of the setting button while the time is displayed may be required.

4.7 Alarm Clock Function

To set the alarm, with the radio off, you typically need to enter an alarm setting mode. This is often done by a long press of a multi-function button (e.g., ALARM, MODE, or SET) until the alarm time flashes.

  1. Enter alarm setting mode (e.g., long press a relevant button).
  2. Use M+ or M- to adjust the alarm hour.
  3. Press the same button used to enter setting mode again to switch to minute adjustment.
  4. Use M+ or M- to adjust the alarm minutes.
  5. Press the button one more time to confirm. An alarm icon should appear on the display.

To turn off the alarm when it sounds, press any button. To disable the alarm function, repeat the setting process and ensure the alarm icon disappears from the display.

4.8 Sleep Timer Function

To activate the sleep timer:

  1. While the radio is on, short press the SLEEP button (often combined with SCAN).
  2. Repeatedly press the SLEEP button to cycle through available sleep timer durations (e.g., 10, 20, 30, 60, 90 minutes).
  3. The radio will automatically turn off after the selected duration.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
  • Antenna Care: Handle the telescopic antenna gently to prevent bending or breakage.

6. Troubleshooting
