Setup Guide

  1. Unboxing and Placement: Carefully remove the Lomi 1 from its packaging. Place the unit on a stable, flat, and dry surface, such as a kitchen countertop. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.

  2. Install Carbon Filters: Lomi uses activated carbon filters to neutralize odors. Locate the filter compartments, typically at the back and top of the unit. Open the compartments and insert the carbon filter bags provided. Ensure they are securely in place.

  3. Insert LomiPod (Optional but Recommended): For optimal results and accelerated composting, place one LomiPod tablet into the designated slot inside the composter bucket. Add 50ml of water to activate the tablet.

  4. Power Connection: Plug the Lomi 1 into a standard electrical outlet. The power button will illuminate, indicating the unit is ready for use.

Operating Instructions

Lomi 1 offers three distinct modes for processing your organic waste:

  • Grow Mode: Ideal for creating nutrient-rich soil amendment for plants. This mode uses lower heat to preserve microorganisms and takes longer (12-24 hours).
  • Eco-Express Mode: For quick breakdown of food waste with low energy consumption, providing the fastest results.
  • Lomi Approved Mode: Designed to break down Lomi-approved bioplastics and compostable commercial goods in addition to food waste.

What Can Go in Lomi? (Do's)

  • Meat scraps (small amounts, soft bones like fish bones)
  • Coffee filters and grounds, tea bags (remove strings)
  • Soft peels, nuts, starches
  • Dairy products (cheese, yogurt)
  • House plants, plants, flowers, and yard trimmings
  • Lomi-approved bioplastics and compostable commercial goods

What Cannot Go in Lomi? (Don'ts)

  • Hard bones (chicken, beef, pork, lamb)
  • Cooking oils, grease, excessive liquids
  • Fruit pits (avocados, peaches)
  • Soaps, shampoo, and conditioner bars
  • Lined bags (chip bags, pet food bags)
  • Soiled diapers, baby wipes
  • Cigarettes
  • Metal, plastic, glass, foil wrap
  • Produce netting, styrofoam
  • Pet waste
  • Alcohol

To Start a Cycle:

  1. Fill the internal bucket with your approved food waste. Do not overfill.
  2. Close the lid securely.
  3. Press the power button to turn on Lomi.
  4. Select your desired mode by pressing the mode selection button. The indicator lights will show the active mode.
  5. Lomi will begin processing. The cycle duration varies by mode and content.

Cleaning:

  • Always unplug Lomi before cleaning.
  • The internal bucket is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
  • Wipe down the lid and exterior with a damp cloth. Do not submerge the main unit in water.

Filter Replacement:

  • Carbon filters should be replaced approximately every 3-6 months, depending on usage, or when odors become noticeable.
