Please read all instructions carefully before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, property damage, or personal injury.
General Safety Precautions:
- This appliance is intended for household use only.
- Do not operate the dispenser if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it has been dropped or damaged.
- Always disconnect the power supply before servicing or cleaning.
- Keep children away from the hot water dispenser and faucet. Hot water can cause severe burns.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the unit.
Electrical Safety:
- Connect to a properly grounded 110-volt, 780-watt electrical outlet only.
- Do not use extension cords.
- Ensure the electrical circuit is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).
Hot Water Safety:
- The dispensed water is near-boiling. Exercise extreme caution to prevent scalding.
- The faucet includes a child safety lock. Always engage the lock when not in use, especially in households with children.
- Only use open vent faucets with this dispenser. Using any other type of faucet will void the warranty and may create a hazardous condition.

4. Setup and Installation
Professional installation is recommended. Ensure all local plumbing and electrical codes are followed.
Pre-Installation Checklist:
- Location: Choose a location under the sink that allows for easy access to the dispenser unit, water lines, and electrical outlet.
- Power: A dedicated 110-volt, grounded electrical outlet with GFCI protection is required.
- Water Supply: A cold water supply line with a shut-off valve is necessary.
- Sink Hole: Ensure a standard faucet hole (typically 1.25 to 1.5 inches in diameter) is available for the faucet installation.
Installation Steps:
- Mount the Faucet: Install the hot-only faucet into the designated sink hole according to the faucet's specific instructions. Ensure all connections are secure.
- Mount the Dispenser Unit: Securely mount the dispenser tank to the cabinet wall under the sink using appropriate fasteners. Ensure it is level and stable.
- Connect Water Lines:
- Connect the cold water supply line to the dispenser's inlet.
- Connect the dispenser's outlet to the hot water inlet of the faucet.
- Ensure all connections are tight to prevent leaks.
- Fill the Tank: Before plugging in the unit, open the cold water supply valve and turn on the hot water faucet to allow the tank to fill completely. Let water run from the faucet for at least 30 seconds to purge air from the system.
- Electrical Connection: Once the tank is full and water flows smoothly from the faucet, plug the dispenser into the grounded 110-volt GFCI outlet.

5. Operating Instructions
Once installed and powered, your American Standard ASH-110 Hot Water Dispenser is ready for use.
Initial Startup:
- After plugging in the unit, the red indicator light on the dispenser will illuminate, indicating that the water is heating.
- Heating time may vary depending on the initial water temperature and selected setting.
- Once the water reaches the set temperature, the green indicator light will illuminate, signifying that the tank is fully heated and ready for use.
Adjusting Temperature:
- The temperature can be adjusted using the dial on the front of the dispenser unit (refer to Figure 3.1).
- Turn the dial towards 'MIN' for lower temperatures (down to 140°F) or towards 'MAX' for higher temperatures (up to 190°F).
- Adjust slowly and test the water temperature at the faucet after each adjustment.
Dispensing Hot Water:
- To dispense hot water, push the faucet handle back and then pull it forward to engage the flow.
- The faucet is equipped with a child safety lock. To operate, you may need to depress a button or move a lever on the handle before engaging the flow.
- Always use caution when dispensing hot water.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your hot water dispenser.
Cleaning:
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the dispenser unit and faucet with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Faucet Spout: Periodically clean the faucet spout to remove any mineral buildup.
Descaling:
- Depending on your water hardness, mineral deposits (scale) may accumulate inside the tank.
- If you notice a decrease in water flow or heating efficiency, descaling may be necessary.
- Consult a qualified plumber or the manufacturer's support for descaling procedures, as improper descaling can damage the unit.
Winterizing (if applicable):
- If the dispenser is in an area subject to freezing temperatures, it must be drained to prevent damage.
- Disconnect power, turn off the water supply, and open the hot water faucet to drain the tank.
7. Troubleshooting
Refer to this section for common issues and their potential solutions. If problems persist, contact customer support.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No hot water / Unit not heating | No power; Water supply off; Tank not filled; Thermal fuse tripped. | Check power connection and GFCI; Ensure water supply is on; Verify tank is full; The thermal fuse is self-resetting, allow time to reset. |
| Water not hot enough | Temperature setting too low; Insufficient recovery time. | Adjust temperature dial towards 'MAX'; Allow more time for the unit to heat up. |
| Low water flow from faucet | Clogged aerator; Mineral buildup in lines/tank. | Clean faucet aerator; Consider descaling if problem persists (professional service recommended). |
| Water leaking from unit or connections | Loose connections; Damaged O-rings/seals. | Tighten all water connections; Inspect and replace any damaged seals. If leak is from the unit itself, discontinue use and contact support. |
| Red light stays on, green light never illuminates | Continuous heating; Faulty sensor. | Ensure temperature dial is set correctly. If the unit never reaches temperature, contact customer support. |
