Setup and Battery Installation

The AP-816B anemometer requires one CR2032 3V battery for operation. Ensure the battery is installed correctly before first use.

Battery Installation Steps

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
  2. Use a Phillips screwdriver or a coin to rotate the battery cover counter-clockwise to open it.
  3. Insert one CR2032 3V battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  4. Replace the battery cover and rotate it clockwise to secure it.

A low battery indicator will appear on the display when the battery needs replacement.

Power On/Off

  • To power on, press any button.
  • The device will automatically power off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery.
  • To manually power off, press and hold the MODE button for a few seconds.

Taking Measurements

Once powered on, the device will immediately begin measuring wind speed and temperature. Ensure the fan wheel is exposed to the wind flow for accurate readings.

Changing Measurement Units

  • Temperature Unit (℃/℉): Press the ℃/℉ button to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit.
  • Wind Speed Unit: Press the SET button repeatedly to cycle through the wind speed units: m/s, Ft/min, Knots, Km/hr, Mph. The selected unit will be displayed on the LCD.

Wind Speed Modes (Current/Average/Max)

Press the MODE button to switch between different wind speed display modes:

  • Current: Displays the real-time wind speed.
  • AVG (Average): Displays the average wind speed over a period.
  • MAX (Maximum): Displays the maximum wind speed recorded since the device was powered on or reset.

LCD Backlight Function

To activate the LCD backlight, press any button. The backlight will remain on for approximately 5 seconds to conserve battery.
