Setup
- Wash Pitcher Components: Hand-wash the pitcher, lid, and reservoir with mild soap and water. Rinse thoroughly. Do not wash the filter with soap.
- Prepare the Filter: Remove the Brita Elite filter from its packaging. Rinse the filter under cold tap water for 15 seconds.
- Insert Filter: Insert the prepared filter into the reservoir by aligning the grooves and pressing down firmly until it clicks into place.
- Assemble Pitcher: Place the reservoir with the inserted filter into the pitcher. Secure the lid onto the pitcher.
- Initial Filter Flush: Fill the reservoir with cold tap water. Allow the water to filter through completely. Discard the first two pitchers of filtered water to flush out any carbon dust.
- Activate SmartLight Indicator: For Elite filters, press and hold the reset button on the lid for 6 seconds until the green light flashes. This indicates the filter life tracking has started.

Operating Instructions
- Filling the Pitcher: Open the easy-fill lid and place the pitcher under cold tap water. Fill the reservoir to the maximum fill line. The water will filter through to the main pitcher body.
- Pouring Water: Once the water has filtered, you can pour clean, filtered water from the pitcher.
- SmartLight Indicator: The SmartLight indicator on the lid will flash green, yellow, or red to indicate the filter's status. Green means good, yellow means it's time to order a new filter, and red means it's time to replace the filter.

Maintenance
Filter Replacement
Replace the Brita Elite water filter approximately every 6 months or after filtering 120 gallons of water. The SmartLight indicator will signal when a replacement is needed.
- Remove Old Filter: Lift the reservoir out of the pitcher and remove the old filter by pulling it upwards.
- Prepare New Filter: Follow the preparation steps for a new filter as described in the Setup section (rinse under cold water for 15 seconds).
- Insert New Filter: Insert the new filter into the reservoir, ensuring a snug fit.
- Reset Indicator: After replacing the filter, press and hold the reset button on the lid for 6 seconds until the green light flashes to reset the filter life tracker.

Cleaning the Pitcher
