1. Introduction

The NikoMaku SWAN-S digital piano is a compact and lightweight 88-key semi-weighted keyboard designed for musicians of all levels. It offers a realistic playing experience with touch-sensitive keys and a rich sound experience powered by the advanced DREAM sound source. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your instrument.

3. Setup

Follow these steps to set up your NikoMaku SWAN-S digital piano:

1. Assemble the Double-X Stand: Carefully unpack the stand components. Refer to the provided instructions and the video below for correct assembly. Ensure the height adjustment knob is securely fastened in the desired position.
2. Place the Piano: Carefully place the SWAN-S keyboard onto the assembled stand, ensuring it is stable and secure.
3. Attach Music Rest: Insert the music rest into the designated slot on the top panel of the piano.
4. Connect Power: Plug the USB cable into the 'LINE IN USB/DC 5V' port on the back of the piano and connect the AC adapter to a power outlet.
5. Connect Sustain Pedal: Plug the sustain pedal into the dedicated pedal input on the back of the piano.
6. Connect Headphones (Optional): For private practice, plug the included headphones into the headphone jack on the back of the piano.
7. Apply Piano Stickers (Optional): For beginners, carefully apply the piano stickers to the keys as indicated in the separate guide to help identify notes.

4. Operating Instructions

Familiarize yourself with the various functions and controls of your digital piano.

4.1. Power On/Off

• Power On: Press and hold the Power button until the digital display illuminates.
• Power Off: Press and hold the Power button until the display turns off.

4.2. Volume Adjustment

• Use the Volume + and Volume - buttons to adjust the master volume.

4.3. Tone Selection

The piano features 128 tones. You can select tones using two methods:

• Direct Selection: For common tones like Piano, Marimba, Church Organ, Guitar, and Bass, press the Setting button and then the corresponding key labeled with the desired tone.
• Number Selection: Press the Tone + or Tone - buttons to cycle through the 128 available tones. The digital display will show the tone number. Refer to the Tone List in your user manual for specific tone numbers.

4.4. Rhythm Patterns

Explore 128 rhythm patterns:

• Press the RHY + or RHY - buttons to select a rhythm pattern (000-127).
• Press the Start/Stop key to begin or end the rhythm.

4.5. Demo Songs

The piano includes 30 built-in demo songs:

• Press the Demo + or Demo - buttons to select a demo song.
• Press the Play key to start or stop the selected demo song.

4.6. Metronome

Use the built-in metronome for timing practice:

• Press the Metronome key to activate the metronome.
• Adjust the tempo using the Tempo + or Tempo - keys.
• Press the Metronome key again to turn it off.

4.7. Recording Function

Record your performances directly on the piano:

• Press the Setting button and then the REC key to start recording.
• Play your desired piece.
• Press the Setting button and then the REC key again to stop recording.
• To play back your recording, press the Setting button and then the Play key.

4.8. Transpose Function

Change the key of your performance:

• Press the Setting button and then the Trans + or Trans - keys to adjust the transposition.

4.9. Dynamics / Touch Sensitivity

The 88 semi-weighted keys offer touch response, allowing the volume to vary based on how hard you press the keys, mimicking an acoustic piano. This feature can be adjusted or turned off via the Dynamics setting.

4.10. MIDI Functionality

The SWAN-S supports MIDI functionality for seamless integration with music apps and software:

• Connect the piano to your computer or smart device via the USB port for MIDI input/output.
• Utilize Bluetooth MIDI for wireless connection to compatible apps like GarageBand (iPhone/iPad support only).

4.11. Bluetooth Audio Streaming

Stream audio from your smart device directly through the piano's built-in speakers via Bluetooth. Pair your device with the piano to play along with your favorite songs or backing tracks.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your NikoMaku SWAN-S digital piano, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the piano's surface. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish. For keys, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry one.
• Storage: When not in use, store the piano in its carrying case to protect it from dust, dirt, and minor impacts. Avoid exposing the instrument to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
• Handling: Always handle the piano with care. Avoid dropping it or placing heavy objects on top of it. When transporting, ensure it is securely packed in its case.
• Power: Disconnect the power adapter when the piano is not in use for extended periods.

If you encounter any issues with your NikoMaku SWAN-S digital piano, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

• No Sound:
  • Ensure the piano is powered on and the volume is not set to minimum.
  • Check if headphones are plugged in. If so, sound will only come through the headphones.
  • Verify that the correct tone is selected (e.g., Piano, not a silent effect).
• Keys Not Responding:
  • Ensure the piano is powered on.
  • If using MIDI, check the connection and software settings.
• Bluetooth Connectivity Issues:
  • Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the piano and your smart device.
  • Unpair and re-pair the device.
  • Move closer to the piano to ensure a strong signal.
• Sustain Pedal Not Working:
  • Ensure the sustain pedal is fully plugged into the correct port on the back of the piano.
• Digital Display Not Working:
  • Ensure the piano is powered on and the power adapter is securely connected.

The NikoMaku SWAN-S digital piano comes with a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering any defects in material and workmanship.

The warranty does not cover damage or malfunction resulting from improper handling or abuse, accident, misuse, failure of electrical power, battery leakage, use of improper voltage or current, or failure to follow normal operating procedures outlined in this User's Manual.
