Operating Instructions

The TTBW-158 tool features a smooth plunger operation and a heavy-duty spring for quick and easy engagement with compatible barrel fasteners.

  1. Inspect the Fastener: Ensure the barrel fastener is clean and free of obstructions. Confirm it is one of the compatible Highfield #6 types (93180128 or 93180124).
  2. Insert the Tool: Align the tip of the TTBW-158 tool with the opening of the barrel fastener. Gently insert the tool until it seats properly.
  3. Engage the Plunger: Press the plunger mechanism on the tool. This action will engage the internal locking mechanism of the barrel fastener, allowing it to be unlocked.
  4. Remove the Fastener: Once the plunger is engaged, the barrel fastener can be removed.
  5. Disengage the Tool: After removing the fastener, release the plunger to disengage the tool.

Troubleshooting

If the TTBW-158 tool is not functioning as expected, consider the following:

  • Incorrect Fastener Type: This tool is designed ONLY for Highfield 93180128 and 93180124 #6 flat head barrel fasteners. It will NOT work on most other fasteners, including those for electric & gas meters, fasteners with raised heads, or high-security barrel fasteners.
  • Incorrect Fastener Size: Ensure the fastener has an inside diameter of 0.158 inches or larger. If the fastener is too small or too large, the tool will not engage properly.
  • Obstructions: Check for any debris or foreign objects within the barrel fastener or on the tool's tip that might prevent proper engagement.
  • Tool Damage: Inspect the tool for any visible damage, such as a bent tip or a malfunctioning plunger mechanism. If damaged, the tool may need replacement.
