Setup
Power Supply
The ACTECK A-808 scale can be powered by three methods:
- AC Adapter: Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet and connect the other end to the scale's power input. This is recommended for continuous use as the scale will not automatically turn off.
- Batteries: Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the scale. Insert the included batteries, ensuring correct polarity. When operating on batteries, the scale will automatically turn off after 90 seconds of inactivity to conserve power.
- USB Cable: Connect the USB cable to the scale and to a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter).
Video: Demonstration of the scale's power options, showing both battery installation and AC adapter connection. The scale can operate using either batteries or the included AC adapter.
Placement
For accurate measurements, place the scale on a firm, flat, and level surface. Avoid placing it on soft or uneven surfaces, which can affect readings.
Operation
Turning On/Off
- To turn on the scale, press the ON/OFF button. The display will show "88888" briefly, then "0.00".
- To turn off the scale, press and hold the ON/OFF button until the display turns off.
Changing Measuring Units
The scale supports four measuring units: pounds (lb), kilograms (Kg), pounds/ounces (lb/oz), and ounces (oz).
- Press the MODE button to cycle through the available units. The selected unit will be displayed on the LCD screen.

Tare Function
The Tare function allows you to reset the display to zero after placing a container on the scale, enabling you to weigh only the contents.
- Place an empty container on the scale platform.
- Press the TARE button. The display will reset to "0.00".
- Add items to the container; the display will show the net weight of the items.

Hold Function
The Hold function is useful when weighing large items that might obscure the display. It locks the weight reading on the screen after the item is removed.
- Place the item to be weighed on the scale.
- Press the HOLD button. The "HOLD" icon will appear on the screen.
- Remove the item. The last stable weight reading will remain displayed for approximately 30 seconds.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the scale surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water. The stainless steel platform is easy to clean.
- Storage: Store the scale in a dry, cool place. If not in use for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
- Calibration: This scale is designed for immediate use and typically does not require user calibration. If you suspect accuracy issues, refer to the troubleshooting section or contact customer support.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Scale does not turn on. | Low or dead batteries; AC adapter not connected properly. | Replace batteries or ensure AC adapter/USB cable is securely connected. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Scale not on a flat, stable surface; overloaded; extreme temperature changes. | Place on a stable surface; ensure weight is within 100 lb limit; allow scale to acclimate to room temperature. |
| Display shows "O-Ld" or "Err". | Scale is overloaded. | Remove excess weight immediately. |
| Display is difficult to see with large items. | Large item obscures the LCD. | Use the HOLD function to lock the reading after removing the item. |
| Scale does not display grams. | This model does not support gram units directly. | The scale measures in lb, Kg, lb/oz, and oz. Convert if grams are needed. |
