  • Integrates the flagship-grade ESS ES9281AC Sabre DAC chip for high-performance digital-to-analog conversion.
  • Supports high-resolution PCM up to 32-Bit/384kHz, native DSD256, and MQA signal decoding.
  • Features dual headphone output ports: a 3.5mm single-ended output and a 4.4mm balanced output.
  • Provides a two-level gain switch (Low/High) to accommodate various headphones and IEMs.
  • Offers ultra-low noise floor and distortion for a clean audio output.
  • Includes LED indicators for active gain level and current audio bitrate.
  • Designed with a minimalistic metal housing and a transparent cover, showcasing internal circuitry.
  • Compatible with a wide range of devices including smartphones, tablets, Windows, and Mac systems.

2.2 Components and Design

The Questyle M15 features a robust CNC machined aluminum chassis with a transparent window that allows visibility of the internal components, including the advanced circuitry and LED indicators.

3. Setup Instructions

3.1 Connecting to Devices

The Questyle M15 connects to various devices via its USB Type-C input. Ensure your device supports USB audio output.

  • Android Smartphones/Tablets: Connect the M15 directly using a USB-C to USB-C cable.
  • Windows/Mac Computers: Connect the M15 using a USB-C to USB-A or USB-C to USB-C cable, depending on your computer's ports. Drivers are typically not required for basic functionality.
  • iOS Devices (iPhones/iPads): A direct Lightning to USB-C cable connection may not provide sufficient power. It is recommended to use an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter, then connect the M15 using a USB-A to USB-C cable (often included). This setup ensures proper power delivery and device recognition.

3.2 Connecting Headphones

Once the M15 is connected to your source device, plug your headphones or in-ear monitors (IEMs) into the appropriate output port:

  • For standard headphones, use the 3.5mm single-ended output.
  • For headphones with a balanced cable, use the 4.4mm balanced output for optimal performance.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Gain Control

The M15 features a two-level gain switch (Low/High) located on the side of the device. Adjust the gain setting based on the sensitivity and impedance of your headphones:

  • Low Gain: Suitable for sensitive in-ear monitors (IEMs) and low-impedance headphones. This setting helps prevent excessive volume and potential noise.
  • High Gain: Recommended for power-hungry, high-impedance headphones that require more amplification.

Always start with the volume low on your source device and gradually increase it after selecting the appropriate gain setting to avoid sudden loud sounds.

4.2 LED Indicators

The transparent cover of the M15 allows visibility of two LED indicators:

  • One LED indicates the currently active gain level (Low or High).
  • The other LED displays the active audio bitrate, confirming the resolution of the audio file being played.

These indicators provide visual confirmation of the device's operational status and audio processing.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the M15. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish or internal components.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the M15 in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Handle the device with care to prevent drops or impacts, which could damage the internal circuitry or the transparent cover.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No sound or device not recognized (iOS devices)Insufficient power supply via direct Lightning to USB-C connection.Use an Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter with a USB-A to USB-C cable for proper power delivery.
Audible interference/noise (especially with cellphones)Electromagnetic interference from nearby cellular signals.Keep the M15 away from the cellphone or place the phone in airplane mode if possible. The transparent design may be susceptible to certain external interferences.
No sound or low volumeIncorrect gain setting, low source volume, or improper headphone connection.Check the gain switch (try High Gain for demanding headphones). Ensure source device volume is up. Verify headphones are fully plugged into the correct port (3.5mm or 4.4mm).
Device not recognized by computerUSB port issue or operating system settings.Try a different USB port or cable. Ensure the M15 is selected as the audio output device in your computer's sound settings.
