8. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your car stereo.
- Cleaning the Screen: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe the touchscreen. For stubborn smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a screen-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
- General Cleaning: Keep the unit and surrounding dashboard area free from dust and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air for hard-to-reach areas.
- Software Updates: Periodically check for software updates to ensure the system runs efficiently and has the latest features. Updates can usually be found on the manufacturer's website or through the unit's system settings.
- Avoid Extreme Conditions: Protect the unit from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when parked for extended periods.
9. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your ASURE car stereo.
Common Issues and Solutions
- Unit Does Not Power On:
- Check all power connections to ensure they are secure.
- Verify the vehicle's fuse for the stereo is intact.
- No Sound Output:
- Check speaker wire connections.
- Ensure the volume is not muted or set too low.
- If using OEM radio/CD player audio via AUX, ensure the AUX app is enabled in factory settings (password 3368, disable front view camera).
- Steering Wheel Controls Not Working:
- Ensure the CAN-BUS Box is correctly installed and configured in factory settings (refer to Section 5.2).
- Check for correct wiring of SWC cables.
- If "Previous and Next controls" or "Volume+ and Volume-" work reversely, correct them in factory settings under "Reversal Previous And Next" and "Reversal Volume" options.
- Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto Connection Issues:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both the stereo and your phone.
- Re-pair the devices if necessary.
- Check that the white plug for the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth antenna is securely connected to the main device.
- GPS Signal Weak or Inaccurate:
- Ensure the GPS antenna is properly installed and has a clear view of the sky.
- Check the GPS antenna connection to the unit.
- Screen Tiling/Lag with Google Maps:
- Some users report smoother performance with navigation apps like Waze compared to native Google Maps due to system resource usage. Consider using Waze for a potentially better experience.
- Fitment Issues (Honda Accord 2007 Hazard Button):
- For 2007 Honda Accord models, the hazard button size may differ from 2003-2005 models, requiring minor plastic trimming for proper fit.
- An advanced tip for a cleaner look is to remove the plastic bracket behind the frame and pop off the plastic covering over the Passenger Airbag light switch assembly, then glue the switch directly against the inside of the frame. This may result in losing visibility of the airbag light.
- Retaining OEM Radio/CD Player Audio:
- The Android unit does not take sound input from the original radio/CD player directly. To retain these functions, you may need to add pins to the blue harness and wire the speaker output into a Line-Out converter. The RCA output of the converter then connects to the RCA Line-In on the Android unit.
