4. Setup

4.1 Mounting the Device

1. Choose a dry, sheltered location for the energizer, protected from direct sunlight and heavy rain.

4.2 Grounding the Energizer

1. Drive at least one galvanized ground rod (not included) into the earth, preferably in a moist area, at least 1 meter (3 feet) deep. For optimal performance, especially with longer fences or dry soil, multiple ground rods may be required.
2. Connect the green ground connection cable from the energizer's ground terminal (marked with a ground symbol) to the ground rod. Ensure a secure, corrosion-free connection.

4.3 Connecting to the Fence

1. Connect the red fence connection cable from the energizer's fence terminal (marked with a lightning bolt symbol) to your electric fence line.
2. Ensure all fence insulators are intact and the fence line is free from vegetation contact to prevent power loss.

4.4 Power Connection

The AKO Duo Power Xi 8000 can be powered by either 230 V mains or a 12 V battery.

4.4.1 230 V Mains Operation

1. Plug the 230 V mains power adapter into the designated input on the energizer.
2. Plug the adapter into a standard 230 V AC wall outlet.

4.4.2 12 V Battery Operation

1. Connect the red battery connection cable to the positive (+) terminal of a 12 V deep cycle battery.
2. Connect the black battery connection cable to the negative (-) terminal of the 12 V deep cycle battery.
3. Plug the other end of the battery connection cables into the designated 12 V input on the energizer.
4. Ensure the battery is fully charged for optimal performance.

Note: Do not connect both 230 V mains and 12 V battery simultaneously. The device will automatically prioritize the 230 V mains if both are connected, but it is recommended to use only one power source at a time.

5. Operating the Device

5.1 Powering On

Once connected to a power source (either 230 V mains or 12 V battery) and properly grounded, the energizer will automatically power on. There is no separate on/off switch.

The AKO Duo Power Xi 8000 features a multi-color LED bargraph display that provides real-time information on the output voltage and battery status. This allows for clear control and helps monitor the performance of your fence system at any time.
