1. Introduction

The SoloGood ELRS 2.4G Receiver is an open-source ExpressLRS (ELRS) radio control link designed for RC applications, particularly FPV racing and long-distance cruising. 2. Setup and Installation

2.1 Physical Connection

Connect the included T-type antenna to the IPEX MHF connector on the receiver board. Ensure a secure connection to maintain optimal signal integrity.

2.2 Wiring to Flight Controller (FC)

Carefully solder the receiver to your flight controller. Pay close attention to the correct pin assignments, as incorrect wiring can damage components. The receiver requires a 5V input voltage.

  • VCC: Connect to 5V on the Flight Controller.
  • GND: Connect to Ground on the Flight Controller.
  • TX: Connect to an available RX pad (e.g., FC RX1) on the Flight Controller.
  • RX: Connect to an available TX pad (e.g., FC TX1) on the Flight Controller.

2.3 Firmware Flashing and Binding

The receiver requires firmware flashing and binding to your ExpressLRS transmitter module. The recommended target for this receiver is BetaFPV Nano 2.4G. Firmware updates can be performed via WiFi, an FTDI adapter, or through the flight controller's passthrough function.

After wiring, configure your flight controller software (e.g., Betaflight) as follows:

  1. In the Ports tab, enable Serial Rx for the UART connected to your receiver (e.g., UART3).

3. Operating Instructions

Once the receiver is correctly installed, flashed with compatible firmware, and bound to your transmitter, it will begin receiving control signals. The receiver's LED indicator (if present) will typically show its status:

  • Solid LED: Indicates a successful connection and active link with the transmitter.
  • Flashing LED: May indicate binding mode or a lost connection. Refer to your specific ExpressLRS firmware documentation for exact LED patterns.

Ensure your flight controller is configured to interpret the CRSF protocol from the receiver for proper drone control.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and reliable performance of your ELRS receiver, consider the following maintenance tips:

  • Antenna Protection: The T-type antenna is crucial for signal reception. Protect it from propeller strikes and physical damage. Consider mounting it in a location that minimizes exposure.
  • Firmware Updates: Regularly check for new ExpressLRS firmware releases. Updates often include performance improvements, bug fixes, and compatibility enhancements.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the receiver board free from dust, dirt, and moisture. Use compressed air or a soft brush for cleaning if necessary.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SoloGood ELRS 2.4G Receiver, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Receiver gets hot and loses connection:
    This can indicate excessive current draw or a short circuit. Double-check all wiring for correct polarity and ensure no solder bridges are present. Verify the input voltage is stable 5V.
  • Difficulty with WiFi flashing:
    WiFi flashing can sometimes be unreliable due to interference or signal strength. Try performing firmware updates using an FTDI adapter or through Betaflight/INAV passthrough, which often provides a more stable connection.
  • No signal or binding issues:
    • Verify that the RX and TX wires are correctly connected (RX on receiver to TX on FC, and TX on receiver to RX on FC).
    • Ensure the correct ExpressLRS firmware target (BetaFPV Nano 2.4G) is used for flashing.
    • Confirm that the UART for the receiver is enabled for Serial Rx in your flight controller software (e.g., Betaflight Ports tab).
    • Check that the Receiver Mode is set to 'Serial-based receiver' and Serial Receiver Provider to 'CRSF' in your flight controller software.
    • Ensure your transmitter module is also running a compatible ExpressLRS firmware version and is in binding mode when attempting to bind.
  • Poor range or intermittent signal:
    Check the antenna connection for looseness or damage. Ensure the antenna is mounted clear of carbon fiber frames or other conductive materials that can block the signal.
