Setup

Initial Setup

1. Download the Tapo app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).
2. Plug in the power adapter to the light strip controller, and then plug the controller into the light strip.
3. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
4. Follow the in-app instructions to connect your light strip to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. No additional hub is required.

Adding to Apple HomeKit

The Tapo L930-5 is a HomeKit compatible device. To add it to your Apple Home App:

1. Ensure your phone is connected to a stable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network with internet access.
2. Open the Home App on your Apple device.
3. Scan the QR code provided in the Quick Start Guide or on the product itself via the Apple Home App or your camera app.
4. Follow the onboarding instructions in the Apple Home App.

Trimming the Light Strip

The light strip can be trimmed to your desired length at marked intervals. Look for the scissor marks along the strip to identify safe cutting points. Warning: Once cut, the trimmed section cannot be reattached or reused. Ensure you have the correct length before cutting.

Operating

App Control

Use the Tapo app to fully control your light strip. You can:

• Change colors from 16 million options.
• Adjust brightness (dim or brighten).
• Select from preset animated lighting effects or create your own using the 50 color zones.
• Set schedules and timers for automatic on/off or lighting changes.

Voice Control

The Tapo L930-5 is compatible with leading voice assistants:

• Apple HomeKit: Use Siri commands.
• Amazon Alexa: Use Alexa commands.
• Google Assistant: Use Google Assistant commands.

Simply use voice commands to turn the lights on/off, change colors, adjust brightness, and activate scenes.

Sync-to-Sound

Activate the Sync-to-Sound feature in the Tapo app to make your light strip react to music and audio, creating an immersive experience.

Scheduling and Timers

Program your light strip to turn on or off at specific times, or to mimic natural light cycles like sunrise for a gentle wake-up experience.

Maintenance

The Tapo L930-5 features a durable IP44 rated PU coating, which helps repel moisture and dust. For cleaning, gently wipe the surface of the light strip with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the coating or LEDs. Ensure the power is disconnected before cleaning.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your Tapo Smart LED Light Strip, consider the following:

• No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into both the light strip controller and a working wall outlet.
• Cannot Connect to Wi-Fi: Verify your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz. Ensure the light strip is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Try restarting your router and the light strip.
• App Issues: Ensure your Tapo app is updated to the latest version. Try force-closing and reopening the app.
