- Locate the battery compartment.
- Insert 4 new AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3. Setting the PIN Code
Your safe comes with a factory default PIN code. It is crucial to change this immediately to a personal code for security. The safe can store one unique 3-8 digit PIN code.
- With the safe door open, press the red reset button located on the inside of the door near the hinge. You will hear a beep.
- Within 5 seconds, enter your desired 3-8 digit PIN code on the keypad.
- Press the '#' button to confirm. You will hear a confirmation beep.
- Test the new PIN code with the door open before closing it.
4. Mounting the Safe
The safe features pre-drilled holes and includes mounting hardware to secure it to a flat surface, such as inside a drawer or cabinet. This prevents unauthorized removal of the safe.
- Choose a suitable location for mounting.
- Mark the drilling points through the pre-drilled holes on the back or bottom of the safe.
- Drill pilot holes into the surface.
- Align the safe and secure it using the provided mounting hardware.

Operating the Safe
1. Opening with PIN Code
- Enter your 3-8 digit PIN code on the keypad.
- Press the '#' button.
- The safe will unlock, and you can open the lid.

2. Opening with Backup Key
In case of forgotten PIN code, battery failure, or electronic malfunction, the safe can be opened using the provided backup keys.
- Locate the keyhole, usually concealed behind the keypad or a small cover.
- Insert one of the backup keys and turn it to unlock the safe.
- Open the lid.

3. Closing and Locking the Safe
To lock the safe, simply close the lid firmly. The locking bolts will automatically engage.
4. Optional Silent Mode
The safe features an optional silent mode for discreet operation. Refer to the specific instructions in your safe's packaging for activating or deactivating this mode, as the procedure may vary slightly.
5. Low Battery Warning
The keypad will indicate a low battery status, typically with a specific light or sound pattern. Replace batteries promptly when this warning appears to avoid being locked out.
Maintenance
1. Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears, replace all 4 AA batteries with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types. Always use alkaline batteries for optimal performance.
2. Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the safe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or electronic components.
3. Backup Key Storage
Important:
Store your backup keys in a secure location away from the safe and not inside the safe itself. This ensures access to the safe if the electronic lock fails or batteries run out.
Troubleshooting
Safe Not Opening with PIN Code
- Check Batteries: Ensure the batteries are fresh and correctly installed. A low battery can prevent the keypad from functioning correctly.
- Re-enter Code: Carefully re-enter your PIN code. Ensure each digit is pressed firmly and accurately.
- Use Backup Key: If the electronic lock is unresponsive, use one of the backup keys to open the safe.
Keypad Not Responding
- Replace Batteries: Completely replace all batteries with new alkaline AA batteries.
- Inspect for Damage: Check the keypad for any visible damage or debris that might be obstructing the buttons.
Lock Jams or Requires Multiple Attempts to Open
- Fresh Batteries: Ensure the batteries are not low, as insufficient power can affect the locking mechanism's reliability.
- Manual Key Override: If the electronic lock is inconsistent, use the backup key for access.
- Contact Support: If the issue persists, contact Barska customer support for further assistance.
