Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Sonos Ray, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Gently wipe the surface of the soundbar with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, cleaning sprays, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish.
  • Ventilation: Ensure that the ventilation openings on the soundbar are not blocked. Proper airflow helps prevent overheating.
  • Avoid Liquids: Keep the Sonos Ray away from water and other liquids. Do not expose it to dripping or splashing.
  • Dust Accumulation: Periodically dust the speaker grille and surfaces to prevent dust buildup, which can affect sound quality and internal components.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Sonos Ray, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Sound:
    • Check that the optical cable is securely connected to both the TV and the Sonos Ray.
    • Ensure your TV's audio output is set to 'Optical' or 'External Speakers' in its settings.
    • Verify the Sonos Ray is powered on and the status light is illuminated.
  • App Connectivity Issues:
    • Ensure your smartphone/tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Sonos Ray.
    • Restart your Wi-Fi router, then restart the Sonos Ray by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
    • Try reinstalling the Sonos app on your device.
  • TV Remote Volume Control Not Working:
    • During initial setup, the Sonos app guides you through syncing your TV remote. If this fails, try the remote setup process again within the Sonos app settings.
    • Ensure your TV remote is infrared (IR) enabled, as the Sonos Ray uses IR for remote control.
  • Distorted or Unbalanced Sound:
    • Check the Trueplay tuning in the Sonos app (if available for your device) to optimize sound for your room.
    • Adjust the EQ settings within the Sonos app.
