Setup and Installation

1. Construct Rough Opening

Begin by framing the rough opening for your pocket door. The minimum height for the rough opening should be 84 1/2 inches (2.14m). The width should be two times the door width plus 1 inch (25mm). Ensure the framing is plumb and level.

2. Measure and Prepare Header

The included wood header is pre-marked for common door widths (24", 28", 30", 32", 36"). If your door matches one of these sizes, no cutting of the wood header is needed. If your door is a different size, you will need to cut the wood header and metal track according to the provided cutting instructions. The track can be cut down to fit custom opening widths.

3. Attach Frame Header to Rough Studs

Secure the aluminum track with the wood slot to the top of your rough opening. Ensure it is level and centered. Use appropriate fasteners to firmly attach it to the header studs.

4. Attach Split Steel Studs

Insert the galvanized steel square uprights into the track and secure them to the floor and the header. These studs provide rigidity and corrosion resistance. If your door is shorter than 80 inches, you may need to lower the header and cut the bottom ends of the steel split tubes.

5. Insert Hangers and Soft Close Mechanism

Carefully insert the ball bearing hangers and the double-sided soft close mechanism into the aluminum track. Ensure the soft close actuators and triggers are correctly positioned for smooth operation. The soft close feature ensures quiet and safe door movement by dampening opening and closing actions.

6. Apply Wall Material

Once the frame is securely installed, apply your desired wall material (e.g., drywall) over the pocket door frame. Use self-tapping drywall screws to secure the wall material to the steel studs.

7. Mount Door Plates and Hang Door

Attach the mounting plates to the top edge of your door panel. Carefully lift the door and engage the hangers with the mounting plates. Adjust the door height and alignment as needed.

8. Install Finished Jambs and Casing

Install the finished jambs and casing around the door opening. Ensure a consistent gap between the door and the jambs for smooth operation. Use self-tapping finish trim screws for a secure installation.

9. Fasten Door Guides

Install the door guide at the bottom of the door opening to prevent the door from swinging. Ensure it allows for a small, consistent gap (e.g., 3/16" or 5mm) between the door and the guide.

Operation

To open or close the JUBEST Pocket Door, gently push or pull the door panel. The integrated soft close mechanism will engage to slow the door's movement as it approaches the fully open or closed position, preventing sudden impacts and ensuring quiet operation. Note that the soft close mechanism requires a certain level of force to initiate movement, which may be a consideration for users with limited strength.

Maintenance

• Regular Cleaning: Keep the track and door surfaces clean from dust and debris to ensure smooth operation. Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning.
