This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient use of your PANTUM BP5100DN high-speed single-function laser printer. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the printer and retain it for future reference.
The PANTUM BP5100DN is designed for fast, high-definition monochrome printing, featuring automatic duplex printing and network connectivity. It utilizes a separate drum and toner system for efficient operation.
2. Safety Information
Observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury and damage to the printer:
- Place the printer on a stable, level surface.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the printer.
- Do not block ventilation openings.
- Use only the specified power supply and voltage.
- Keep the printer away from water and moisture.
- Do not attempt to service the printer yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel.
- Turn off and unplug the printer before cleaning or performing maintenance.

5. Setup
5.1 Unpacking and Placement
- Remove the printer from its packaging.
- Remove all protective tapes and packing materials from the printer.
- Place the printer on a sturdy, level surface with adequate space for ventilation and paper handling.
5.2 Installing Toner Cartridge and Drum Unit
The PANTUM BP5100DN uses a separate toner cartridge and drum unit. Install them as follows:
- Open the front cover of the printer.
- Carefully insert the drum unit into the printer until it clicks into place.
- Insert the toner cartridge into the drum unit until it locks securely.
- Close the front cover.

5.3 Connecting the Printer
- Connect the power cord to the printer and then to a grounded electrical outlet.
- For USB connection: Connect one end of the USB cable to the printer and the other end to your computer.
- For Network (Ethernet) connection: Connect an Ethernet cable to the printer's network port and to your network router or switch.
- For Wi-Fi connection (if applicable to your model): Refer to the on-screen menu or driver installation guide for wireless setup.
5.4 Driver Installation
The printer supports one-step driver installation.
- Insert the provided Driver CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the printer drivers and software.
- If your computer does not have a CD-ROM drive, download the latest drivers from the official PANTUM website.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Loading Paper
The standard paper tray has a maximum input sheet capacity of 250 sheets. The multipurpose tray capacity is 60 sheets.
- Open the paper tray.
- Adjust the paper guides to the size of the paper you are loading.
- Load paper into the tray, ensuring it is flat and not exceeding the maximum fill line.
- Close the paper tray.
Supported media sizes include A3, A4, A5, A6, B5, and 8.5 x 11 inch. Supported print media types include card stock, envelopes, plain paper, and transparencies.
6.2 Basic Printing
- Ensure the printer is powered on and connected to your computer or network.
- Open the document you wish to print on your computer.
- Select "Print" from the application's menu.
- Choose the PANTUM BP5100DN from the list of available printers.
- Adjust print settings (e.g., number of copies, paper size) as needed.
- Click "Print".
6.3 Duplex Printing (Automatic Two-Sided Printing)
The PANTUM BP5100DN supports automatic duplex printing.
- When sending a print job, access the printer properties or preferences.
- Look for an option related to "Two-sided printing" or "Duplex printing".
- Select the desired duplex option (e.g., long-edge binding, short-edge binding).
- Confirm your settings and proceed with printing.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Toner Cartridge Replacement
Replace the toner cartridge when print quality degrades or the printer indicates low toner. Available toner cartridges and their approximate yields are:
- TL-5120: 3,000 pages
- TL-5120H: 6,000 pages
- TL-5120X: 15,000 pages
- Open the front cover of the printer.
- Remove the old toner cartridge from the drum unit.
- Unpack the new toner cartridge and gently shake it horizontally a few times.
- Insert the new toner cartridge into the drum unit until it locks.
- Close the front cover.
7.2 Drum Unit Replacement
The drum unit (DL-5120) has an approximate yield of 30,000 pages. Replace it when indicated by the printer or when print quality issues persist after toner replacement.
- Open the front cover of the printer.
- Remove the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly from the printer.
- Separate the toner cartridge from the old drum unit.
- Unpack the new drum unit.
- Insert the toner cartridge into the new drum unit.
- Insert the new drum unit assembly into the printer until it clicks into place.
- Close the front cover.

7.3 Cleaning the Printer
Regular cleaning helps maintain print quality and extends printer life.
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth dampened with water to wipe the exterior of the printer.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Gently wipe the paper path area to remove any dust or paper debris.
8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Status Indicator Meanings
The printer's status indicator provides information about its current state:

- Poor Print Quality: Check toner level. If toner is sufficient, the drum unit might be nearing its end of life or require cleaning. Ensure correct paper type is selected in print settings.
- Connectivity Issues: For network printers, verify network cable connection or Wi-Fi settings. Ensure the printer has a valid IP address.
