5. Operating Instructions

5.1 First Use

Before grilling food for the first time, operate the grill at its maximum temperature for approximately 15-20 minutes with the lid closed. This will burn off any manufacturing residues and prepare the grilling surfaces.

5.2 Pre-heating the Grill

  1. Ensure the grill is plugged into a grounded 240V outdoor outlet.
  2. Open the lid and ensure the grilling grates are clean.
  3. Turn on the grill using the main power button on the touch display.
  4. Select the desired temperature for each of the two heating zones using the touch controls. Temperatures can be adjusted up to 300 °C in 50 °C increments.
  5. Close the lid and allow the grill to pre-heat for 10-15 minutes, or until the desired temperature is reached as indicated by the lid thermometer and digital display.

5.3 Grilling

  • Direct Grilling: For searing and cooking smaller items quickly, place food directly over the active heating elements.
  • Indirect Grilling: For larger cuts of meat or items requiring slower cooking, use one heating zone and place food over the unheated zone, or reduce the temperature on one side.
  • Warming Rack: Use the upper warming rack to keep cooked food warm or to gently heat items like bread.

5.4 Using Meat Thermometers

The grill includes two meat thermometers with 1.2m cables for precise internal temperature monitoring.

  1. Carefully insert the probe of a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the food, avoiding bone.
  2. Connect the thermometer cable to the designated port on the grill's control panel.
  3. The core temperature of the food will be displayed digitally on the grill's touch display.
  4. Monitor the temperature to ensure food is cooked to your desired doneness and safe internal temperatures.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your LANDMANN EG-II-590 Electric Grill Cart.

6.1 After Each Use

  • Disconnect Power: Always unplug the grill and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Grilling Grates: Once cool, remove the enameled cast iron grates. Clean them with a grill brush and warm soapy water. Avoid harsh abrasives to protect the enamel.
  • Warming Rack: Clean the enameled steel warming rack with warm soapy water.
  • Grease Drip Tray: The removable grease drip tray should be emptied and cleaned after each use. Slide it out from the back of the grill, dispose of grease, and wash with warm soapy water.
  • Interior: Wipe down the interior of the grill body and under the heating elements with a damp cloth. For stubborn grease, use a mild degreaser.
  • Exterior: Clean stainless steel surfaces with a stainless steel cleaner or a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Wipe in the direction of the grain to prevent streaks.

6.2 Important Cleaning Notes

  • The fixed drip tray beneath the heating elements is not removable. To simplify cleaning this area, consider lining it with heavy-duty aluminum foil before use.
  • Do not immerse electrical components in water.
  • Regularly check the power cord for any signs of damage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your grill, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Grill does not turn on. No power supply; power cord damaged; circuit breaker tripped. Check if the grill is properly plugged in. Inspect the power cord for damage. Check your household circuit breaker.
Grill not heating sufficiently. Lid open; temperature setting too low; faulty heating element. Ensure the lid is closed during pre-heating. Increase the temperature setting. If problem persists, contact customer support.
Meat thermometer reading inaccurate. Probe not inserted correctly; faulty thermometer. Ensure the probe is inserted into the thickest part of the meat, away from bone. Test with another thermometer if available.
Excessive smoke. Grease buildup; food drippings. Clean the grease drip tray and interior of the grill regularly. Ensure the drip tray is properly positioned.
