4. Installation Instructions
4.1 General Wiring Guidelines
- Turn off Power: Before starting, ensure power is OFF at the circuit breaker or fuse box. Verify with a voltage tester.
- Identify Wires: Carefully identify the Line (hot), Load, Neutral (if applicable), and Ground wires in your electrical box.
- Connect Wires: Connect the wires to the device terminals as instructed below. Use side wiring only, accepting up to 12AWG copper or copper-clad wire.
- Secure Device: Mount the device into the electrical box and attach the wall plate.
- Restore Power: Turn power back ON at the circuit breaker.
4.2 Dimmer Switch Wiring (3-Way Application Example)
For 3-way applications, only one dimmer switch can be installed per circuit. The other switch in the 3-way circuit should be a standard 3-way switch.

Image 4.1: 3-Way Wiring Instruction for the BESTTEN Dimmer Switch. This diagram illustrates connecting the Hot Black Wire (120V 60Hz) to one terminal, two Traveler Red Wires to the other two terminals, and the Ground Green Wire to the ground screw. The Hot/Load Black Wire from the light fixture connects to the remaining terminal.
How to change from a standard 3-Way switch:
When removing your old switch, take a picture of the wire locations for future reference. Note that two terminals on the old switch will have the same color wires (travelers). These wires connect to the two red wires on your new dimmer. Mark the wire that was connected to the third terminal on your old switch; this will be your line or load wire and will connect to the black wire on your new dimmer. The ground wire (green or bare copper) from your old switch connects to the green wire on your new dimmer.
4.3 Combination Switch & Outlet Wiring
This device supports both common feed and separate feed (two circuits) applications.

Image 4.2: Illustration of the Two Circuits Application for the BESTTEN Combination Switch and Outlet. It highlights that the break-off pin located between the black screws should be removed before wiring for separate circuits.
- Common Feed: For a single circuit powering both the switch and the outlet, connect the incoming hot wire to one of the black screws. Connect the load wire for the light to the other black screw. Connect the neutral wire to the silver screw and the ground wire to the green screw.
- Separate Feed (Two Circuits): If you intend to power the switch and the outlet from two different circuits, the break-off pin located between the black screws must be removed before wiring. This isolates the switch and outlet, allowing them to be wired to separate hot feeds. Connect the hot wire for the switch to one black screw and its load wire to the other black screw. Connect the hot wire for the outlet to one of the remaining black screws and its neutral to the silver screw. Connect ground wires to the green screw.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Dimmer Light Switch Operation
- Turning On/Off: Press the rocker switch to turn the connected light fixture ON or OFF.
- Dimming: Use the horizontal slider located below the rocker switch to adjust the light intensity. Slide up to brighten, slide down to dim.
5.2 Combination Toggle Switch & Duplex Receptacle Operation
- Toggle Switch: Flip the toggle switch up or down to control the connected light fixture.
- Duplex Receptacle: Insert plugs into the two available outlets to power devices.
6. Dimming Range Adjustment (for Dimmer Switch)
The dimming range of LED bulbs can vary. If you experience flickering, hum, or buzz, or if the bulbs do not dim to your satisfaction, adjust the dimmer's range using the side adjustment wheel.
- Move the horizontal slider to the leftmost (lowest dimming) position.
- Turn on the light by pressing the rocker switch.
- Locate the small adjustment wheel on the side of the dimmer switch. Rotate this wheel to set the optimal dimming range and eliminate any flickering.

Image 6.1: Steps for Dimming Range Setting on the BESTTEN Dimmer Switch to eliminate flickering. The steps are: 1. Move the slider to the leftmost position, 2. Turn on the light, 3. Adjust the wheel to set the dimming range or eliminate flickering.

Image 6.2: Important note regarding dimmer compatibility. It states that dimmable LEDs may not dim the same as incandescent or halogen bulbs, and the dimming range can vary. The dimmer has an adjustable range, and if bulbs do not dim or exhibit issues, they may not be compatible, advising to refer to the user manual for adjustment.
7. Maintenance
These devices require minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines:
- Cleaning: Disconnect power before cleaning. Wipe the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the devices and wall plates for any signs of damage, loose connections, or discoloration. If any issues are found, turn off power and consult a qualified electrician.
8. Troubleshooting
- Light does not turn ON:
- Check if the circuit breaker is tripped.
- Ensure all wire connections are secure.
- Verify the bulb is working and properly installed.
- Light flickers or hums (Dimmer Switch):
- Adjust the dimming range using the side adjustment wheel (refer to Section 6).
- Ensure the bulb is dimmable and compatible with the dimmer.
- The total wattage of connected bulbs may exceed the dimmer's capacity.
- Outlet is not working:
- Check if the circuit breaker is tripped.
- Ensure all wire connections are secure, especially the hot and neutral wires.
- If using a separate feed, ensure the break-off pin was removed correctly and both circuits are powered.
