4. Setup
Before first use, the generator requires initial setup, including adding engine oil and fuel.
4.1 Adding Engine Oil
The generator is shipped without engine oil. You must add the correct amount of oil before starting.
- Place the generator on a level surface.
- Unscrew and remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
- Using the provided oil funnel, slowly add approximately 0.45 liters of 10W-30 engine oil (or equivalent, refer to specifications for recommended oil type) until the oil level reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
- Reinstall the oil fill cap/dipstick securely.
4.2 Adding Fuel
Use only fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher.
- Ensure the engine is off and cool.
- Move the generator to a well-ventilated outdoor area.
- Unscrew the fuel cap.
- Carefully pour gasoline into the fuel tank, avoiding spills. Do not fill above the red indicator inside the tank.
- Securely tighten the fuel cap. Ensure the fuel cap vent is open for operation and closed for transport/storage.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Starting the Engine
- Ensure the generator is on a level surface outdoors, away from any obstructions.
- Open the fuel cap vent (if applicable).
- Turn the 3-in-1 switch to the CHOKE position.
- Pull the recoil starter handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly. Repeat until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts, slowly move the 3-in-1 switch to the RUN position.
- Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes. The Output Ready LED should illuminate, indicating stable power is available.
- You can now connect your appliances to the AC, DC, or USB outlets.
5.2 Stopping the Engine
- Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
- Turn the 3-in-1 switch to the OFF position.
- Close the fuel cap vent (if applicable) for storage or transport.
5.3 Eco Mode Operation
The Eco Mode switch allows the generator to automatically adjust engine speed to match the load, improving fuel efficiency and reducing noise levels.
- To activate Eco Mode, slide the ECO switch to the ON position.
- For maximum power output or when starting high-load appliances, turn the ECO switch to the OFF position.

This image illustrates the low noise output of the MXR3500 generator, particularly when operating in Eco Mode. At 25% load and a distance of 7 meters, the noise level is approximately 58 dB, comparable to a normal conversation or a dishwasher.
5.4 Parallel Operation
Two MXR3500 generators can be connected in parallel using a parallel cable (included) to double the available power output, up to 5400W peak.
- Ensure both generators are off and cool.
- Connect the parallel cable to the designated parallel connectors on both generators.
- Start both generators following the "Starting the Engine" procedure.
- Once both generators are running and their Output Ready LEDs are illuminated, you can connect your high-power appliances to the parallel output sockets on the parallel kit.
