Application Modes

The VAP11G-300 supports three primary operating modes:

1. AP Mode (Access Point)

In AP mode, the VAP11G-300 converts a wired network connection into a wireless access point. This is suitable for scenarios where an Ethernet cable provides internet access to a computer, allowing other wireless devices to connect to the internet via the VAP11G-300 without additional dialing.

2. Repeater Mode

Repeater mode extends the coverage of an existing WiFi network. The VAP11G-300 receives a weak WiFi signal and amplifies it to a normal, secure strength, effectively doubling the signal coverage distance. This mode also allows conversion of a WiFi signal to an RJ45 network, enabling a wired device to connect to the internet via WiFi.

3. WiFi Bridge Mode

In Bridge mode, the VAP11G-300 enables wired devices to access the internet wirelessly. It acts as a bridge between your wired device (e.g., DVR, IP camera, network printer) and your WiFi network, allowing the wired device to communicate over WiFi.

Operating Instructions

Once configured, the VAP11G-300 will operate in the selected mode. The LED indicators provide status information:

  • WiFi State/Hotspot Connection State (Blue Light): Indicates the status of the WiFi connection.
  • Ethernet Port State (Green Light): Illuminates green when the Ethernet port connection is successful.

For optimal performance in Repeater mode, place the VAP11G-300 at the edge of your existing WiFi signal coverage to effectively receive and amplify the signal.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your VAP11G-300:

  • Keep the device in a dry environment, away from excessive heat or moisture.
  • Avoid physical impact or dropping the device.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • If the device requires a reset, locate the reset button and press it for 5 seconds, then release. Ensure the device remains powered during the reset process.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your VAP11G-300, consider the following:

  • Device Not Connecting to WiFi:
    • Ensure the blue WiFi state light is solid or flashing appropriately for a connection. If not, re-check your WiFi password and network selection in the configuration interface.
    • Verify the VAP11G-300 is within range of your WiFi router.
    • Try resetting the device and re-configuring.
  • Wired Device Not Getting Internet:
    • Check if the green Ethernet port state light is illuminated, indicating a successful physical connection.
    • Ensure the VAP11G-300 itself is connected to the WiFi network (blue light status).
    • Verify the Ethernet cable connection between the VAP11G-300 and your wired device.
  • Poor Signal Extension in Repeater Mode:
    • Relocate the VAP11G-300 to a position where it receives a stronger signal from your main router, ideally halfway between the router and the area needing extended coverage.
    • Check for physical obstructions that might be blocking the signal.
  • Cannot Access Configuration Page (http://vonets.cfg):
    • Ensure your computer is directly connected to the VAP11G-300 via Ethernet and its wireless adapter is temporarily disabled.
    • Try a different web browser.
