2. Setup and Installation

The 130X thumb throttle is designed for easy installation on handlebars with a diameter of 22.5mm. No modification, cutting, or drilling is typically required. Please follow the steps below for proper installation.

2.1 Installation Steps

  1. Loosen the Nut: Begin by loosening the nut on the throttle's clamp mechanism.
  2. Position on Handlebar: Slide the 130X thumb throttle onto the 22.5mm diameter handlebar. Ensure it is positioned comfortably for your thumb, allowing for full range of motion. The throttle can be installed for either right or left-hand use.
  3. Tighten the Nut: Securely tighten the nut to fix the throttle in place on the handlebar. Do not overtighten.
  4. Connect to Controller: Connect the waterproof 3-pin male plug of the throttle to the corresponding female connector on your e-bike or scooter controller. Note that this waterproof connector cannot connect directly to the controller; it requires a 1-to-4 Bus-cable if your system does not have a direct compatible port. The cable length is 25cm (9.8 inches).
  5. Install Grip and Test: Reinstall your handlebar grip if removed. Test the throttle functionality before riding.

3. Operating Instructions

The 130X Thumb Throttle provides intuitive speed control for your electric bicycle or scooter. Once properly installed and connected to your controller, operate it as follows:

  • Activation: Ensure your e-bike or scooter's power system is turned on.
  • Acceleration: Gently press the thumb lever forward with your thumb to engage the motor and accelerate. The further you press the lever, the more power is delivered, increasing your speed.
  • Deceleration: Release the thumb lever to reduce power and decelerate. The motor will disengage or reduce power as the lever returns to its resting position.
  • Adjustable Angle: The thumb lever is adjustable up to 70 degrees for ergonomic comfort.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and reliable performance of your thumb throttle.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the throttle clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that could damage the plastic housing or internal components.
  • Connection Check: Regularly inspect the waterproof connector for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Ensure it remains securely plugged into the controller or bus-cable.
  • Cable Inspection: Check the cable for any cuts, fraying, or kinks that could affect its functionality.
  • Mounting Security: Verify that the throttle remains securely mounted on the handlebar. Tighten the clamp nut if any looseness is detected.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your 130X Thumb Throttle, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Throttle Not Responding:
    • Check if the e-bike/scooter power is on.
    • Ensure the throttle's waterproof connector is securely plugged into the controller or bus-cable.
    • Inspect the cable for any visible damage.
    • Verify that your controller is compatible with a 3-pin thumb throttle.
  • Intermittent Operation:
    • Check for loose connections at the throttle and controller ends.
    • Ensure the thumb lever moves freely without obstruction.
  • Incorrect Speed Response:
    • Confirm the throttle is fully returning to its resting position when released.
    • Ensure the throttle is not obstructed by other handlebar accessories.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact customer support for further assistance.
