- Insert Batteries: The meter uses two CR2032 lithium coin batteries. Open the battery compartment on the back of the meter and insert the batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Set Date and Time: Upon first use or after battery replacement, the meter will prompt you to set the current date and time. Use the navigation buttons to adjust the values and confirm with the 'OK' button.
- Prepare Lancing Device: Remove the cap from the Microlet lancing device. Insert a new Microlet lancet into the device. Twist off the protective cap from the lancet and replace the lancing device cap. Adjust the penetration depth setting on the lancing device according to your comfort level (start with a lower setting and adjust as needed).
- Insert Test Strip: Insert a CONTOUR NEXT test strip into the test strip port of the meter. The meter will automatically turn on and display a blinking blood drop symbol, indicating it is ready for a blood sample.

4. Operating Instructions: Performing a Blood Glucose Test
Once your system is set up, follow these steps to perform a blood glucose test:
- Wash and Dry Hands: Thoroughly wash your hands with warm, soapy water and dry them completely. This helps prevent infection and ensures an accurate sample.
- Obtain Blood Sample: Press the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press the release button. A small drop of blood will form.
- Apply Blood to Test Strip: Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The meter will draw the blood into the strip. The meter features Second-Chance Sampling, allowing you to apply more blood to the same test strip within 20 seconds if the initial sample is insufficient.
- Read Results: The meter will display your blood glucose result within 5 seconds. The result will be shown along with the date and time of the test.
- Record Results: It is recommended to record your results in the provided logbook or a digital tracking application to monitor trends over time.

5. Understanding Your System's Key Features
No Coding Technology
The CONTOUR NEXT meter utilizes No Coding Technology, which eliminates the need for manual coding. This feature simplifies the testing process by removing a step and helps prevent errors that can occur from incorrect coding, ensuring accurate results every time.

Second-Chance Sampling
This feature allows you to apply more blood to the same test strip within 20 seconds if the initial sample was insufficient. This can help prevent wasting test strips and save money, making the testing process more efficient.
