Setup and Assembly
- Unfold the Handle: Carefully unfold the handle from its folded position.
- Attach the Handle: Secure the handle to the mower deck using the pre-installed bolts and knobs. Ensure they are tightened securely.
- Connect Clutch Cable: Insert the end of the clutch cable into the side hole of the clutch lever. Insert the clutch lever into the upper holes of the handle on both sides.
- Add Engine Oil: Remove the oil dipstick. Add the provided engine oil to the engine. The EXi 725 engine does not require oil changes, only topping off to the proper level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. Do not overfill.
- Add Gasoline: Fill the fuel tank with fresh, unleaded gasoline.
Operating Instructions
Starting the Mower
The YARDMAX YG2860 features an automatic choke system and no-prime technology for easy starting. Simply hold the handle and pull the recoil starter cord. The engine is designed to start with minimal effort.
Cutting Height Adjustment
Adjust the cutting height using the single-lever deck adjustment. There are 7 cutting height positions, ranging from 1.38 inches to 3.55 inches, allowing you to customize your lawn's appearance.
Self-Propulsion
The mower is equipped with an industry-leading Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) offering 6 speeds. Use the 6-speed shift lever to adjust the mower's pace to your walking speed. Engage the self-propulsion by holding the activator lever on the handlebar.
Discharge Options (3-in-1)
The YG2860 offers three discharge options: mulching, side discharge, and rear bagging.
- Side Discharge: Lift the spring-loaded door on the side of the deck and attach the side discharge chute.
- Rear Bagging: Lift the rear discharge door and remove the mulching plug. Hang the hooks of the grass catcher on the axle of the rear discharge door.
- Mulching: Ensure the side discharge chute is removed and the rear discharge door is closed with the mulching plug inserted.
Maintenance
Engine Oil
The EXi 725 engine features Mow N' Stow™ Technology, meaning no oil changes are required. Regularly check the oil level using the dipstick and top off as needed to ensure it is at the proper level. Do not overfill.
Deck Cleaning
The mower includes a convenient deck washout port. Simply attach a hose to the port and let the water flush out dirt and grass clippings from the underside of the cutting deck. This helps maintain performance and prevents buildup.
Storage
The entire mower can be compactly folded for storing in small garage spaces. The EXi 725 engine allows for vertical storage without fluids running to unintended places. Use the front handle on the deck for easy lifting and vertical storage.
Troubleshooting
