3. Safety Information

Your safety is paramount. Please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • The FA6120 smoke detector is CE marked and certified to EN 14604:2005+AC:2008 standards, and carries the Q-label, ensuring high safety and performance.
  • The integrated battery is sealed and non-replaceable. Do not attempt to open the unit or replace the battery.
  • Avoid placing the alarm near bathrooms or kitchens, as steam and cooking fumes can trigger nuisance alarms.
  • Regularly test your smoke alarm as described in the Operating Instructions section.

4. Setup and Installation

The FireAngel FA6120 is designed for easy installation. Follow these steps to properly mount your smoke alarm:

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable location on the ceiling, ensuring it is at least 300 mm (12 inches) away from luminaires (light fixtures) and walls. Smoke alarms are suitable for habitable recreational vehicles. Do not install in kitchens or bathrooms due to potential nuisance alarms from steam or cooking fumes.
  2. Mount Base Plate: Use the provided screws (not supplied with the alarm, typically standard mounting screws) to fix the removable base plate securely to the ceiling. The base plate is identical to that of the ST622 model, allowing for easy replacement.
  3. Attach Alarm: Once the base plate is mounted, push the smoke alarm onto the base plate and turn it clockwise until it clicks firmly into place.

5. Operating Instructions

Understanding how to operate your smoke alarm ensures its effectiveness.

5.1. Testing the Alarm

To ensure your alarm is functioning correctly, press and hold the large central Test/Silence button. A loud alarm sound will confirm its proper operation. Test your alarm weekly.

5.2. Silencing Nuisance Alarms

In the event of a false alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes or steam), press the Test/Silence button to temporarily silence the alarm for 10 minutes. Ensure the cause of the false alarm is identified and resolved.

5.3. Sleep Easy™ Function

If a low battery alert sounds during the night, you can activate the Sleep Easy™ function. Press the Test/Silence button to silence the low battery chirp for 8 hours. The red LED will continue to flash, indicating the low battery status. The alarm will still detect smoke during this period. Remember to replace the alarm within 30 days of the first low battery alert, as the battery is sealed and non-replaceable.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance helps ensure the longevity and reliability of your smoke alarm.

  • Weekly Testing: Test your smoke alarm weekly by pressing the Test/Silence button.
  • Cleaning: Gently vacuum the alarm's casing once a month using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and cobwebs. Do not use cleaning solvents or sprays.
  • Battery: The alarm features a sealed 10-year lithium battery that does not require replacement. When the alarm reaches the end of its 10-year lifespan or consistently indicates a low battery, the entire unit must be replaced.
