4. Device Layout and Connections

5. Setup and Initial Use

5.1 Charging the Device

1. Connect the provided power adapter to the DC IN port on the ST-5150.
2. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet.
3. The "Charge" LED indicator will illuminate during charging. The device is fully charged when the indicator changes color or turns off (refer to specific LED behavior in the device's quick start guide if available).

5.2 Connecting to Signal Source

Before connecting, ensure the device is powered off.

• For Satellite (DVB-S/S2): Connect the LNB cable from your satellite dish to the LNB IN port on the ST-5150.
• For Terrestrial/Cable (DVB-T/T2/C): Connect the antenna or cable TV signal to the ANT (RF IN) port on the ST-5150.

5.3 Powering On

Press and hold the Power button until the device powers on and the LCD screen displays the main menu.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Main Menu Navigation

Use the navigation keys (Up, Down, Left, Right) to move between menu options and the OK button to select. The MENU button returns to the previous screen or the main menu.

6.2 Signal Search (DVB-S/S2)

1. From the main menu, select DVB-S2.
2. Choose your desired satellite from the pre-loaded list or add a new one. Note: The ST-5150 includes a European satellite list. For other regions, manual transponder input may be required.
3. Configure LNB settings (e.g., LNB type, LO frequency, 22KHz tone, DISEQC settings 1.0/1.1/1.2, Unicable).
4. Select a transponder or manually input frequency, symbol rate, and polarization (H/V).
5. Adjust your satellite dish while observing the signal strength and quality indicators on the screen. The device will provide visual and audio alarms when a signal is locked.
6. Once a satisfactory signal is achieved, you can perform an Auto Scan or Manual Scan to find channels.

6.3 Signal Search (DVB-T/T2/C)

1. From the main menu, select DVB-T2 or DVB-C as appropriate.
2. Select your region/country or manually input channel frequency and bandwidth.
3. Adjust your terrestrial antenna or cable connection while monitoring signal strength and quality.
4. Perform an Auto Scan or Manual Scan to find channels.

6.4 Angle Calculation (AZ & EL)

The device can automatically calculate the azimuth (AZ) and elevation (EL) angles for satellite dish alignment. This feature assists in quickly pointing the dish to the correct satellite.

1. From the main menu, select Angle Calc....
2. Input your current location's latitude and longitude, or allow the device to use its internal GPS (if equipped and enabled).
3. Select the desired satellite. The device will display the calculated AZ and EL angles.

6.5 Multimedia Playback

The ST-5150 supports multimedia playback. Connect a USB drive with compatible media files to the USB port and navigate to the Multimedia section from the main menu.

6.6 System Settings

Access System Settings from the main menu to configure language, time, display brightness, and other device parameters.

6.7 Software Upgrade

The device's software can be upgraded via the USB port. Visit the manufacturer's website for the latest firmware and instructions.

• No Power: Ensure the battery is charged or the power adapter is correctly connected.
• No Signal Detected:
  • Check all cable connections for security and proper type (LNB IN for satellite, ANT for terrestrial/cable).
  • Verify LNB settings (for satellite) or frequency/bandwidth settings (for terrestrial/cable).
  • Ensure the antenna/dish is correctly aimed. Use the Angle Calculation feature for guidance.
• Poor Signal Quality:
  • Fine-tune antenna/dish alignment.
  • Check for obstructions between the antenna/dish and the signal source.
  • Inspect cables and connectors for damage.
• Video Playback Issues (H.265/HEVC): The ST-5150's H.265/HEVC decoding supports 8-bit video only and does not support 10-bit video. Ensure your media files are compatible.
• Satellite Search Limitations: The ST-5150 does not support North American DVB-S2 8PSK Turbo format. Users in North America may need to manually input transponder details for certain satellites.
• Device Freezes/Unresponsive: Try restarting the device. If the issue persists, perform a factory reset via the System Settings menu (note: this will erase custom settings).
