4. Measurement Guide

Accurate measurement is crucial for proper fit and function. Determine whether you will use an inside mount (within the window frame) or an outside mount (outside the window frame).

4.1. Inside Mount Measurement

For an inside mount, the shade fits within the window casing. Ensure your window depth is at least 2 inches.

  • Width: Measure the inside width of the window frame at the top, middle, and bottom. Use the shortest of these three measurements. The blind width should be 0.4 inches shorter than this shortest window width.
  • Height: Measure the inside height of the window frame at the left, middle, and right. Use the longest of these three measurements. The shade height should be greater than or equal to the window height.

4.2. Outside Mount Measurement

For an outside mount, the shade covers the entire window opening and extends beyond it.

  • Width: Measure the desired width you want the shade to cover, typically 2-4 inches wider than the window opening on each side to minimize light gaps. The blind width should be this measured width.
  • Height: Measure the desired height you want the shade to cover, typically from above the window frame to below the sill. The shade height should be this measured height.

5. Installation

Follow these steps for a secure installation. Refer to the provided video for visual guidance.

  1. Marking: Hold the shade in the desired mounting position (inside or outside the window frame). Use a pencil to mark the locations where the mounting brackets will be installed. Ensure the marks are level.
  2. Drilling: Drill pilot holes at the marked locations. For drywall, insert wall anchors before screwing in the brackets.
  3. Attaching Brackets: Secure the mounting brackets using screws. Ensure they are firmly attached and level.
  4. Mounting the Shade: Align the headrail of the roller shade with the installed brackets. Push the shade firmly into the brackets until it clicks securely into place.
  5. Attach Handle: Attach the provided handle to the bottom rail of the shade.

6. Operating Instructions

Your Joydeco Cordless Roller Shade operates using a smooth spring mechanism. To operate:

  • To Lower: Gently pull down on the bottom handle of the shade to the desired position. The shade will stay in place once you release the handle.
  • To Raise: Gently push up on the bottom handle of the shade. The shade will smoothly retract upwards.

Always operate the shade by holding the bottom handle level. Avoid pulling or pushing the shade at an angle, as this can cause the internal mechanism to jam or become defective.

7. Maintenance

To keep your Joydeco roller shades clean and functional:

  • Cleaning: The shade fabric is anti-static, dustproof, and waterproof. For general cleaning, use a feather duster or a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For spot cleaning, gently wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Mechanism: The cordless spring mechanism is designed for durability. Avoid forcing the shade up or down, and ensure it is operated smoothly and evenly.
