1. Introduction

3. Setup Guide

3.1 Placement

Place the turntable on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and strong vibrations. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

3.2 Component Identification

Familiarize yourself with the main parts of your turntable:

3.3 Assembly

  1. Install the Platter: Carefully place the main platter onto the sub-platter spindle.
  2. Install the Drive Belt: Loop the drive belt around the sub-platter and the motor pulley. Ensure it is not twisted.
  3. Place the Felt Mat: Lay the felt mat on top of the platter.
  4. Attach the Counterweight: Slide the counterweight onto the rear of the tonearm. Rotate it until the tonearm is balanced and floats freely. Refer to the detailed instructions for setting tracking force.
  5. Attach the Anti-skating Weight: Loop the anti-skating weight's thread over the small wire support on the tonearm base and into the appropriate groove.
  6. Install the Dust Cover: Place the dust cover onto the hinges at the rear of the plinth.

3.4 Connections

The E1 BT offers flexible connection options:

  • RCA Output: Connect the supplied RCA cable from the turntable's output jacks to your amplifier's phono input (if your amplifier has one) or to a line-level input if using the turntable's built-in phono stage.
  • Ground Wire: Connect the ground wire from the turntable to the ground terminal on your amplifier to minimize hum.
  • Power Supply: Connect the universal power supply to the turntable's DC input and then to a wall outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

The turntable is powered on and off using the 3-position switch located on the side of the plinth. This switch also controls the playback speed.

4.2 Playing a Record

  1. Place a record on the felt mat on the platter.
  2. Select the correct playback speed (33 or 45 RPM) using the power switch. The platter will begin to spin.
  3. Gently lift the tonearm using the cueing lever.
  4. Position the tonearm over the desired starting groove of the record.
  5. Slowly lower the cueing lever to allow the stylus to descend onto the record.
  6. At the end of the record, lift the tonearm using the cueing lever and return it to the tonearm rest.

4.3 Changing Playback Speed

The E1 BT supports 33 1/3 RPM and 45 RPM playback speeds. To change the speed, simply toggle the 3-position power switch on the side of the plinth:

  • Position 1: Off
  • Position 2: 33 1/3 RPM
  • Position 3: 45 RPM

4.4 Bluetooth Pairing

The E1 BT features an integrated Bluetooth 5.0 transmitter for wireless audio streaming to compatible devices (e.g., Bluetooth speakers, headphones, amplifiers).

  1. Ensure your Bluetooth receiving device is in pairing mode.
  2. Turn on the Pro-Ject E1 BT turntable. The turntable will automatically enter Bluetooth pairing mode.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning the Turntable

  • Always disconnect the turntable from the power supply before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the plinth and dust cover. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • For the platter and tonearm, use a slightly damp cloth if necessary, then dry immediately.

5.2 Stylus Care

The stylus is a delicate component and requires careful handling:

  • Regularly clean the stylus using a dedicated stylus brush, brushing gently from back to front.
  • Avoid touching the stylus with your fingers.
  • Replace the stylus when signs of wear appear (e.g., distorted sound, increased surface noise), typically after 500-1000 hours of playback.
