1. Introduction

The XP Deus II is a state-of-the-art, wireless, multi-frequency metal detector designed for superior performance across various terrains, including land and underwater environments. Utilizing Fast Multi Frequency (FMF) technology, the Deus II ensures rapid and accurate target identification. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your Deus II metal detector and MI-6 pinpointer.

2. Safety Information

  • Water Immersion: Do not immerse the Deus II remote control in water above 20 meters (66 feet). Ensure the correct waterproof cap is used for the intended depth.
  • Battery Safety: Use only the provided charging cables and power adapter. Do not attempt to open or modify the battery compartments.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Children: Keep the device out of reach of small children.

4. Setup

4.1 Assembly

  1. Attach the Search Coil: Secure the 11-inch FMF Search Coil to the lower stem using the provided hardware.
  2. Assemble the Stem: Connect the lower stem to the S-Telescopic Stem. Adjust the length for comfortable operation.
  3. Mount the Remote Control: Attach the Deus II Remote Control to the S-Telescopic Stem.
  4. Connect Headphones: The WS6 Wireless Headphones will automatically pair with the remote control and search coil once powered on.

4.2 Charging

Before first use, fully charge all components (remote control, search coil, WS6 headphones, and MI-6 pinpointer) using the provided power adapter and charging cable. Connect the charging cable to each component and plug the adapter into a power outlet. Charging indicators will show the status.

4.3 Pairing Components

The Deus II system is designed for wireless communication. Once the search coil, remote control, WS6 headphones, and MI-6 pinpointer are powered on, they will automatically attempt to pair using the XP patented radio protocol system. Ensure all components are within range for optimal performance.

4.4 Waterproof Cap Configuration

The remote control uses different caps for varying water depths:

  • Gray Plug (No. 1): For common use on land or for submerged remote control up to 1 meter (3.3 feet).
  • Red Plug (No. 2): For underwater use only, up to 20 meters (66 feet). Important: Always replace the red plug with the gray plug when returning to land use to prevent damage.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Press and hold the power button on the remote control, WS6 headphones, and MI-6 pinpointer to turn them on or off. The search coil powers on automatically when connected to the remote control.

5.2 Fast Multi Frequency (FMF) Technology

The Deus II utilizes FMF technology, allowing it to operate across a wide range of frequencies (4 to 45 kHz) simultaneously. This provides enhanced sensitivity to various target types and improved performance in diverse ground conditions. The system automatically processes these frequencies to deliver accurate target identification and depth information.

5.3 Program Selection

The Deus II comes with 12 factory-preset programs optimized for different detecting conditions and target types. Additionally, 12 user-defined programs can be customized and saved. Use the remote control interface to navigate and select programs. Refer to the on-screen menu for detailed program descriptions and settings.

5.4 Target Identification (Target ID)

The device provides accurate and in-depth Target ID values to help identify detected objects. Familiarize yourself with the typical Target ID ranges for common metals in your detecting area.

5.5 Wireless Headphones (WS6)

The WS6 headphones provide clear audio signals from the detector. They are lightweight and feature a display for essential information. Battery life can vary up to 25 hours depending on audio output settings.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, especially in wet or sandy conditions, wipe down all components with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure all components are clean and dry before storage.
  • Battery Care: For long-term storage, ensure batteries are charged to approximately 50-70% to prolong their lifespan. Recharge periodically if stored for extended periods.
  • Coil Cover: Keep the search coil cover on to protect the coil from scratches and impacts.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Deus II, consider the following:

  • No Power: Ensure all components are fully charged. Check charging cable connections.
  • No Signal/Intermittent Signal: Verify that all components (coil, remote, headphones) are properly paired and within wireless range. Check for strong electromagnetic interference in the area.
  • Incorrect Target ID: Perform a ground balance. Adjust sensitivity settings. Ensure the search coil is parallel to the ground.
  • Water Leakage: If using underwater, confirm the correct red waterproof cap is securely installed on the remote control.
