Unboxing and Initial Assembly

Follow these steps to prepare your turntable:

1. Carefully remove the turntable from its packaging. Keep all packaging materials for future transport or service.
2. Place the turntable on a stable, level surface.
3. Install the platter onto the spindle. Ensure it sits correctly.
4. Gently stretch the drive belt around the sub-platter and the motor pulley. Rotate the platter a few times manually to ensure the belt is seated properly.
5. Place the felt mat on top of the platter.
6. Remove any tonearm twist ties or protective covers.

Tonearm and Cartridge Configuration

The Pro-Ject E1 Phono is designed for 'Plug & Play' convenience. The tracking force and anti-skating are pre-adjusted at the factory for the included OM5e cartridge. This means you typically do not need to perform these adjustments manually.

Dust Cover Attachment

Connecting to Your Audio System

The E1 Phono features a built-in switchable phono preamplifier. This allows you to connect the turntable directly to an amplifier or powered speakers that do not have a dedicated phono input.

• Using the Built-in Phono Stage: Ensure the switch on the underside of the turntable is set to 'Phono' or 'Line' (depending on the specific model's labeling, typically 'Line' for built-in preamp active). Connect the RCA cables from the turntable's output to a standard 'Line In' (AUX, CD, Tuner, etc.) input on your amplifier or powered speakers.

Operating Your Turntable

Power On/Off

Locate the power switch, typically at the rear or side of the plinth. Flip the switch to the 'On' position to power on the turntable. Flip it to 'Off' to power down.

Playing a Record

1. Place a record on the platter, ensuring it is centered on the spindle.
2. Select the correct playback speed (33 or 45 RPM) using the electronic speed switch.
3. Gently lift the tonearm using the cueing lever.
4. Position the tonearm over the desired starting groove of the record.
5. Slowly lower the cueing lever to gently drop the stylus onto the record. The record will begin to play.
6. To stop playback, lift the tonearm using the cueing lever and return it to the tonearm rest.

Speed Selection (33/45 RPM)
