5. Setup and Installation

Before installation, ensure your system is powered off and unplugged. Refer to your motherboard manual for specific CPU socket and clearance information.

5.1. Prepare the Motherboard

  • For Intel sockets (LGA1700/1200/115X), install the appropriate backplate and stand-offs.
  • For AMD sockets (AM4/AM5), use the existing motherboard backplate and install the provided AMD stand-offs.

5.2. Apply Thermal Paste

Clean the CPU surface thoroughly. Apply a small amount of thermal paste (included) to the center of the CPU. An X-pattern or a pea-sized dot is generally recommended. Do not spread the paste manually; the pressure from the cooler will distribute it evenly.

5.3. Mount the Cooler

  • Carefully place the heatsink onto the CPU, aligning the mounting holes with the stand-offs.
  • Secure the heatsink using the provided screws, tightening them in a diagonal pattern until snug. Do not overtighten.
  • Attach the 120mm ARGB PWM fan to the heatsink using the included fan clips. Ensure the fan is oriented correctly for optimal airflow (typically blowing towards the rear exhaust fan of your case).

5.4. Connect Cables

  • Connect the 4-pin PWM fan cable to the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard.
  • Connect the 3-pin ARGB cable to a compatible 5V 3-PIN Addressable RGB header on your motherboard. Do not connect to a 12V RGB header, as this will damage the LEDs.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Fan Control (PWM)

The 120mm fan is a PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) fan, meaning its speed can be dynamically controlled by your motherboard based on CPU temperature. This allows for quiet operation during low loads and increased cooling performance when needed. Fan speed settings can typically be adjusted in your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings or through motherboard-specific software.

6.2. ARGB Lighting Control

The ARGB lighting can be controlled and synchronized with other ARGB components in your system via your motherboard's 5V 3-PIN ARGB header. Use your motherboard's RGB software (e.g., Asus Aura Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, MSI Mystic Light Sync, ASRock Polychrome Sync) to customize lighting effects, colors, and patterns.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal cooling performance and extends the lifespan of your CPU cooler.

  • Dust Cleaning: Periodically (every 3-6 months, depending on environment) use compressed air to clean dust from the heatsink fins and fan blades. Ensure the fan is held stationary while cleaning to prevent damage to the bearings.
  • Thermal Paste Reapplication: If you remove the cooler for any reason, it is recommended to clean off the old thermal paste from both the CPU and the cooler base and apply fresh thermal paste before reinstallation.
  • Cable Check: Occasionally check that all cables (PWM fan and ARGB) are securely connected to their respective headers on the motherboard.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1. Fan Not Spinning or Spinning Slowly

  • Check if the 4-pin PWM fan cable is securely connected to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
  • Verify fan speed settings in your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI. Ensure the fan curve is set appropriately and not to a
