Setup
1. Battery Installation
The timer requires two (2) AA batteries (not included). To install:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the timer.
- Open the compartment cover.
- Insert two AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Connecting to Faucet
Before connecting, ensure the filter washer is properly seated in the timer's inlet to prevent debris from entering the unit.

Attach the timer to your outdoor faucet by screwing it onto the faucet threads. Hand-tighten only to ensure a secure, leak-free connection. Do not overtighten.
3. Connecting Hose
Connect your garden hose to the outlet at the bottom of the timer. Ensure this connection is also hand-tightened to prevent leaks.

Operating Instructions
The Melnor Hydrologic Digital Timer features a large LCD display and intuitive buttons for programming. The main dial allows you to navigate between different settings.

1. Setting the Clock
- Turn the dial to SET CLOCK.
- Use the UP/DOWN arrows to adjust the current time.
- Press OK to confirm and move to the next setting (e.g., AM/PM).
- Repeat until the current time is set.
2. Programming Watering Schedule
The timer allows for up to four individual start times per day and can be set to water on specific days of the week or every few days.
- Turn the dial to WATER DAY. Use UP/DOWN to select specific days or an interval (e.g., every 2 days). Press OK.
- Turn the dial to START WATER. Use UP/DOWN to set the desired start time for watering. You can set up to 4 start times. Press OK after each.
- Turn the dial to HOW LONG. Use UP/DOWN to set the duration for each watering cycle (e.g., 10 minutes). Press OK.
- Once all settings are configured, turn the dial to AUTO to activate the programmed schedule.
3. Manual Watering
To manually water without affecting your programmed schedule:
- Turn the dial to ON/OFF MANUAL.
- Press the OK button to start watering.
- Use the UP/DOWN arrows to adjust the manual watering duration.
- Press OK to confirm. The water will run for the set duration.
- To stop manual watering early, turn the dial to OFF.
4. Rain Delay Function
The rain delay feature allows you to pause your watering schedule for a set period to conserve water during rainy conditions.
- With the dial set to AUTO, press and hold the OK button for 3 seconds.
- Use the UP/DOWN arrows to select the desired delay duration (up to 7 days).
- Press OK to confirm. The timer will resume its schedule after the delay period.

Maintenance
1. General Care
To ensure longevity and proper function of your timer:
- Store the timer indoors during fall and winter months to prevent damage from freezing temperatures.
- Avoid dropping the timer or subjecting it to harsh impacts.
- Clean the exterior with a damp cloth as needed. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
2. Filter Washer
Periodically check the filter washer located at the inlet of the timer for debris. A clogged filter can restrict water flow and affect performance. Clean it by rinsing under running water.
3. Battery Replacement
The LCD display will show a low battery indicator when the batteries need to be replaced. Replace both AA batteries promptly to avoid interruption of your watering schedule.
