3.2 Initializing New Drives (Windows)

If you are using a brand new hard drive, it may need to be initialized and formatted before it can be used. Follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the "Start" button (Windows icon) and select "Disk Management".
  2. In the Disk Management window, locate your new drive (it will likely be marked as "Unallocated" or "Offline").
  3. Right-click on the disk number (e.g., Disk 1) and select "Online" if it's offline, then "Initialize Disk".
  4. Choose MBR (Master Boot Record) or GPT (GUID Partition Table) as the partition style. GPT is recommended for drives larger than 2TB. Click "OK".
  5. Right-click on the "Unallocated" space of the new drive and select "New Simple Volume".
  6. Follow the New Simple Volume Wizard to assign a drive letter and format the drive (NTFS is recommended for Windows).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Data Read & Write Function

When connected to a computer via USB, the docking station functions as an external drive enclosure, allowing you to read and write data to the inserted HDDs/SSDs. Both bays can be accessed simultaneously.

4.2 Offline Clone Function

The offline clone function allows you to duplicate a source drive to a target drive without connecting to a computer. This is ideal for creating backups or upgrading drives.

  1. Prepare Drives: Ensure the docking station is powered off. Insert the Source HDD/SSD into the "Source" slot (HDD1) and the Target HDD/SSD into the "Target" slot (HDD2).
    • Important: The capacity of the Target drive must be equal to or larger than the Source drive.
    • Warning: All data on the Target drive will be erased during the cloning process. Back up any important data from the Target drive beforehand.
  2. Start Clone: Power on the docking station. Press and hold the "Clone" button for approximately 3-5 seconds until the progress indicator lights (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) begin to flash.
  3. Confirm Clone: Release the "Clone" button, then quickly press it again to confirm and start the cloning process.
  4. Monitor Progress: The indicator lights will show the cloning progress (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%). All four lights will remain solid when the cloning is complete.
  5. Completion: Once all lights are solid, the cloning is finished. Power off the docking station before removing the drives.
