4. Installation Instructions
4.1. Preparation
- Turn off the water supply valve located at the wall behind the toilet.
- Flush the toilet to empty the tank. Hold the flush lever down to drain as much water as possible.
- Use a sponge or towel to remove any remaining water from the tank.
- Disconnect the water supply line from the bottom of the old fill valve.
- Unscrew the mounting nut from the underside of the tank and remove the old fill valve.
4.2. Step-by-Step Installation
- Insert the new RAVINE fill valve into the hole at the bottom of the toilet tank. Ensure the cone washer is properly seated on the valve shank inside the tank.
- From the underside of the tank, thread the mounting nut onto the valve shank. Hand-tighten the nut firmly. Do not overtighten.
- Connect the refill tube to the small port on the side of the fill valve and clip the other end to the overflow pipe. Ensure the tube is positioned above the water line.
- Reconnect the water supply line to the bottom of the new fill valve. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench for a quarter turn to ensure a snug, leak-free connection.
- Slowly turn on the water supply valve. The tank will begin to fill. Check for any leaks at the connections.

4.3. Adjusting Water Level
The RAVINE fill valve allows for easy adjustment of the water level in the toilet tank. This adjustment is typically done by rotating the float cup or a screw mechanism on the valve body.
- Locate the water level adjustment mechanism on the fill valve. This is usually a screw or a sliding clip on the float assembly.
- To raise the water level, turn the adjustment screw clockwise or slide the clip upwards. To lower the water level, turn the screw counter-clockwise or slide the clip downwards.
- Flush the toilet after each adjustment to allow the tank to refill and observe the new water level. The water level should be approximately 1 inch below the top of the overflow pipe.

5. Operation
After flushing, the RAVINE fill valve automatically senses the drop in water level within the toilet tank. It then opens to allow fresh water to enter the tank and refill it to the preset level. The float mechanism rises with the water, and once the desired level is reached, the valve closes, stopping the water flow. The refill tube directs a small amount of water into the toilet bowl during the refill cycle to ensure proper bowl water level.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your RAVINE fill valve.
- Periodic Inspection: Annually inspect the fill valve for any signs of wear, cracks, or mineral buildup.
- Cleaning the Filter Screen: If water flow becomes slow, the inlet filter screen at the base of the valve may be clogged. Turn off the water supply, disconnect the supply line, and carefully remove the filter screen for cleaning. Rinse it under running water to remove debris, then reassemble.
- Mineral Buildup: For areas with hard water, mineral deposits can affect valve operation. If necessary, disassemble the top portion of the valve (refer to specific instructions if provided with the product for detailed disassembly) and soak components in a vinegar solution to dissolve mineral buildup. Rinse thoroughly before reassembly.
7. Troubleshooting
Refer to the table below for common issues and their solutions.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Toilet runs continuously or cycles on/off | Water level too high; float obstructed; flapper not sealing; valve mechanism sticking. | Adjust water level lower; ensure float moves freely; inspect/replace flapper; gently tap valve to free mechanism. |
| Slow tank refill | Partially closed water supply valve; clogged inlet filter screen; low water pressure. | Fully open water supply valve; clean inlet filter screen; check household water pressure. |
| No water filling the tank | Water supply off; fill valve obstructed or faulty. | Turn on water supply; check for obstructions; if valve is faulty, replacement may be necessary. |
| Water level in bowl is too low | Refill tube not connected or improperly positioned; flapper leak. | Ensure refill tube is securely connected to the fill valve and clipped to the overflow pipe; inspect/replace flapper. |
